 Do you think this is normal?

My girls are 16 months and we started a one nap a day schedule about a month and a half ago (12:00 - 2:00). They go to bed about 7:30pm and sleep for 10 hours (they are early risers 6:00am)

Now we can't make it to lunch. I tried going out shopping, playing with other kids, playing outside they just get so exhausted if they don't nap they will fall asleep during lunch and wake up in about 1 1/2 hours because they are starving.

So now we are back to two naps; 9:00am - 10 am and then 2:00 - 4:00 pm.

Should I just let things run its course and go back to 1 nap in a month or so.

My kids seemed to want to get rid of their morning nap a month ago, and then suddenly started needing it again also. I would do whatever it seems they need. Maybe its a growth spurt?

I agree...if they need it, let them have. Plus, you get two breaks a day! We've played around with transitioning to one nap. It seems like that next day, they need to make up for lost sleep and take two long naps.

Take what you can get! Pretty soon they think they can get up & stay up all day & half the night! Mine always sleep more when teething or those "growth spurts".

Mine did this too at about the same age. In fact, Cole would still take 2 naps if I let them be on different nap schedules. I think if they are acting like they need the 2 naps, let them have them. I would love to still be on our 2 nap schedule!!

I think your thoughts on it are exactly right!! You should stick with this schedule (the one you described 9-10 etc.) and see what happens. They might be growing or something and need the extra sleep! You'll be down to one SOON, so enjoy this phase!! :p

I agree with the PP, if they are needing one I would let them and enjoy it!! We stopped taking naps 8 months ago and the last 2 weeks they have been taking a nap at least every other day. It gives me some down time and they are much happier after they get a nap. Its will probably end again soon but I am enjoying it while it lasts.
