Hi, I am 32 weeks, and I can no longer sleep! My hips are in agony! And when I try to turn over, my pelvis screams out in pain. I have bought a memory foam mattress topper, use a body pillow, and have a big memory foam pillow to support my upper body. None of this even comes close to helping. I wake up ever hour in so much pain I can hardly believe it.

Has anyone else had this experience? Any thing that has helped other mama's?

    Thanks so much

I had this with my last singleton pregnancy much worse than with this twin pregnancy - go figure. Im sorry to say that not much helped me besides lots of pillow propping, especially the last trimester. It didn't matter anyway, since I officially can no longer sleep for more than a few hours at a time - gotta love insomnia

ok, this can help some. Get on your hands and knees then have someone put their hands on your hips, apply pressure or even jiggle them. This can feel blissful! I will be hooking up with my doula soon so this will be a weekly thing for me! I have hubby do for me now but he's not as good as my doula friends!
How about some yoga? Great for helping with streaching and is great prep for birth!

:hug99: I'm so sorry; it was awful for me, too, those last few weeks. I didn't find much comfort between the pelvic pain and the reflux. Some ladies feel a hot water bottle can help; others recommend an ice pack. Experiment with taking either a hot or cold bath before bed and see if either helps.
    Hang in there!

I have had hip problems since I had my first DD and nothing helps all the way for me. I do get some relief if I prop a bunch of pillows up and sleep on my back/sitting a little. Plus it makes it easier to get out of the bed in the night. :p Also someone else said to put rice in a sock and microwave it and that seems to help a little bit.

I have the same problem with the pelvic bones, particularly when I'm trying to turn over in bed or get in/out of bed. I've tried a heating pad/sock with rice, hot showers and baths...honestly, the only thing that has even remotely helped is the Percocet my OB gives me for a completely unrelated issue. She actually prescribed it b/c of neuropathic pain in my legs related to a hereditary neuropathy I have; ironically, the pelvic pain is at times worse than the leg pain, and I find myself saving the pain medicine to take at bedtime b/c of the pelvic pain! I wish we could take motrin or aleve - seems like that would help a lot more!

Hope you find something that gives you some relief! Know you're not alone in experiencing it, though!!!

Oh man between that and the reflux I was miserable those last few weeks, plus we were having a nasty heatwave and I live on the 3rd floor, the ac couldnt keep my place cool enough.
I ended up sleeping on the couch in front of the ac almost in a sitting position but on my side with a kind size pillow under my belly, another between my legs and another behind my back, plus a few couch pillows and my regular one under my head. I also used ice packs, on my hips, my a$$, my thighs, my lower back, all over!
Also taking tylenol and a benadryl at bedtime helped the slightest bit.

Not too much longer!! Good luck!!

Swimming! Can you get to a place around you where you can submerse your body in water? It is really great to relieve your joints that way!

This pain was TERRIBLE for me! I hurt all of the time especially when I was trying to get out of bed, or when I was trying to put pants on. As the PP said, swimming helped A LOT!! It just helps take the weight off of your body. Swimming was quite possibly the best thing for me. Although, sleeping at night, swimming does not help.

I haven't found anything that makes it feel better but I can tell you= I CAN RELATE!! Hahaha...
Since my belly has dropped (believe it or not) it hurts significantly less...
Four weeks ago I was in agony! But its tolerable now. I guess just hope it goes away :)

I'm sorry you are in such discomfort.

I've just been wondering ladies, had you been doing/keeping up pelvic floor exercises? I'm seeing a physio tomorrow to get a small exercise regime to strengthen my back and pelvic floor muscles.

Its so nice to know there are many in the same boat. I have tried many of these ideas, but I guess in all reality, its just a side effect of the pregnancy, and I will have to patiently wait it out. Its just unbelievable that it could hurt so much. Swimming is nice, but I am really unable to get out right now and get to the pool. I bet a water-bed would be nice ;)

I'm sorry about your pain! I had that problem and the only thing that helped was sleeping in a recliner. Your still to early otherwise I'd suggest getting an induction. I was in so much pain in the end that I told my ob that next appt I might not even be able to walk to the car that was @36w 1d. I had them 2 days later a scheduled induction.

I see a chiropractor who is trained in Active Release Technique (ART) No crunching or twisting! He has me lay on my side and he adjusts my hips by putting pressure on the muscles while I straighten and bend each leg. AMAZING!!!! I always feel better afterwards. I see hime every two weeks and my pain has been seriously much less. I highly recommend it - my doctor suggested it!
