Help! Shrieking twins!

Help!! Does it end? Is it normal? My girls are 21 months old and only speak a few words. They have been checked out by a speech therapist and I was told they do not need any help yet and that they should be talking soon. So, they walk around screeching and shrieking! It's embarrassing when we go to restaraunts or anywhere in public! If they want something they shriek!!! Then one gets the other going! Is this a twin thing or just a baby thing or just plain not normal??? What do I do?? Please give advice!!!

 

My boys are 26 months, have words and still shriek. I ignore it now. Even though you think they may not have words, I bet you they do have some basic ones. I would suggest ignoring them. My boys also get a time out for screaming which results in them using their words. Good luck

 

My twins were very late talkers and they did a LOT of yelling all the time. It was terribly frustrating for all of us, and unfortunately just a phase we had to get through.

 

I suggest basic sign language. This helped with my girls shrieking and random wailing. And I still say the phrase " use you words "

 

My twins weren't bad shriekers, but my singleton is (19 months) and he has a lot of words, so it must just be a baby thing!! I hate it and can't imagine having to listen to TWO babies do it!!! I guess they are just learning what their voices can do and hopefully, this stage will pass!

 

My two were shriekers until about 19 months old when they started getting more words in their vocabulary and could get their point across in a language I could understand.

 

My girls are screamers too...they are 25 months and still the majority of what they say is gibberish. I am constantly saying "use your words" and refuse to give them what they want unless they ask properly as I know they have enough basic words to do this (more, up, milk, all done, etc).
