I never experienced this postpartum with my son, so I don't know if this is normal with multiples. My stomach is a huge pooch and I feel like all my inside are just sloshing around. Is this normal? What should I do to help support the area?

    How did you deliver?
Sounds normal...everything takes longer after twins. You'll get there!
Relax! Enjoy them as much as you can. Believe it or not I miss it now!

    vaginally

I also meant to say that right after delivery it was flat on top and then the pooch, but now it seems to be slightly bloated/big on top by my rib cage.

It sounds like a separation of the abdominal muscles, which is common after carrying multiples. My separation is 2 inches. I've heard that Pilates works for some, but most require surgical repair to be flat again.

I agree, it sounds like Diastasis Recti (I have it too). At 4.5 months PP, I still have a pretty strange-looking pooch. I tried to post pictures of it on here one time in a PP body thread, but for some reason, no one could view them (thank goodness). I still feel like my insides have not returned to their proper place. My doctor even sewed my mucles back up a bit after the surgery, but she said the separation was still there. Just give it time. I was told to give it a YEAR! Ugh.Congratulations by the way.

I haven't used it, but have spoken to other mom's who loved the Medela Post Partum belt. They have a little information about it on Medela's website...it just keeps everything in place and provides extra abdominal support while your body gets back to normal.

YES!!!!!!!!!! That is exactly how I felt. It was awful. Get an abdominal post-surgical band or post-partum band. It will hold everything in place until you recover a bit. I wore one for three weeks straight.

I am very active and normally exercise a lot. However, after the birth of my girls, I couldn't do anything without my stomach swelling for more than six months. Everytime I would do crunches, it would just swell. I had a c-section and it was my second birth (plus I was older) so I have to agree with an earlier post, it just takes longer for everything to get back. Even now, almost two years later, I have a small pooch that I can not get rid of.

I hate to say it but it does sound normal... until your muscles close..if they ever close...do not do crunches... There are other ways of exercising these muscles...like sitting or standing and focusing on bringing the abdominal muscles in toward your back bone just by tightening them. I have to say that 2 years post-partum my muscles were still a little separated below my belly button. They had improved above my belly button, but for some reason still a fingertip or two apart below....
