Help please!

DS has started telling everyone to "Shut up!" He heard a girl tell her mother to shut up on a commercial and since when he gets angry he tells us (mainly me) to shut up. How do I stop this?! I've tried talking to him about it not being nice, I've tried time outs, I've tried spanking, nothing has worked. How do I handle this??

I don't know really.....I would probably give instant time out for the infraction and also tell him "We don't say that!" Every time. I think just being consistent is good.

Sorry I don't have more help for you. I imagine he's doing it for the reaction of saying it. I would remain REALLY calm and just matter of fact with him. Don't get mad or anything, just say it really plainly "we don't say that, 2 min. timeout" :hug99: Good luck Rhonda!

 

be persistent with one form of discipline and make sure to not react differently to this specific bad behavior than any other bad behavior

 

You should keep on talking with your baby on this matter but slightly in good mood.I am sure with the passage of time your baby will stop saying shut up.
