about 15 min. ago Logan was stung by a wasp in our home...he cried for a few minutes but now SEEMS fine...what should i be looking for? we're 30 min. away from the doctor/hospital and i'm waiting on her to call me back. should i go ahead and start driving him into town? the sting was on his hand (i think he was trying to pick the wasp up and probably put it in his mouth!)...i don't see a rash at the moment, but how long do i wait??????

Last summer Reese was stung on the hand by a wasp, unless there is a known allergy you shouldnt have anything to worry about. You could give benedryl incase and put ice on the sting. (this is what I did.)
*hugs* I know it's scary and I hope your son is a-okay!!

I agree.. my dd was stung last summer on her finger. It hurts like &(^(*^&*% but unless there is a known allergy, there should not be an issue. Give some tylenol, benedryl and ice it.

I can't even recall how many times I was stung, as a kid, by yellow jackets and wasps. What we always did was immediately put a poultice of baking soda and water on the area; it helps to draw out the stinger or the toxins that cause the stinging. They also make a product called stingeeze (not sure how it's spelled), and you can put that on right after the sting.

It would be normal to get have redness in the area, but if there is excessive redness or swelling, or trouble breathing, he may be having an allergic reaction. From what you described, it sounds like he's fine. Honestly, as long as he's not allergic or hasn't been stung numerous time, it's not a big deal.

You got some great advice and I totally agree. Ice helps with the pain and benedryl if you think he's having a reaction. Poor kiddo!

I second the call for a paste of baking soda & water. It really does help. Other than that, just keep an eye on him, he'll probably be fine. Most allergic reactions don't show up with the first sting anyway.

I third the recommendation for baking soda and water. That's what my mother used on me when I was stung as a child. She was worried that I would have a reaction because she is allergic to bees, etc. I hope he is doing well now

Another baking soda and water person here. My Allison was stung three times last year...she is just a stinger magnet..and all times we put a compress of baking soda and water..works wonders at taking the "sting" out of it.
