Help! Any advice appreciated... warning TMI

My DH woke up this morning early this morning - like 5am and then again and again - I was half asleep (for once [IMG]) but managed to figure out that he was not feeling so well. Well, he just called me from work and said that he has been in the bathroom (TMI) with diahrea every 10 minutes. He has not vomited though.

We ate the same things yesterday and I am horrified that the babies will get sick. I feel fine, I mean as fine as we all feel. I have the normal heartburn that I get after my a.m. bowl of oatmeal and fruit. I have NOT had a problem with constipation during my pregnancy so it is kind of hard to judge although I don't think that my morning "donation" was abnormal. I even took my morning walk without a problem.

I tried calling my doctor but, although I love my ob/gyn her nurse always sort of sounds like she is on drugs and this morning she slurred back to me "don't worry about it, maybe you have more of that stuff in your system fighting it off than he does - I am sure it can't hurt the babies". Needless to say, I do not feel satisfied with her answer.

Is there any way the babies can get sick even though I am feeling fine? Should I not worry about it too much since he is not vomiting or anything? Or, worse yet, could I just not have gotten it yet even though he is in the throws of it?

    Thanks,
    Amy

I don't think I'd worry about it until you actually start feeling bad, if you ever do. It's possible he might have a virus or something..does he have a fever? I'd call back and ask your OB if it's possible for the babies to be sick without you being sick, I doubt it, but totally understand if it makes you feel bettter. Might sleep in separate beds tonight....

    Hope DH feels better soon!

it is more likely that it is a stomach virus - there is a bad one going around

My Dh was sick with a bad sore throat, a terrible cold, and bodyaches. The next week I got the same thing only a little worse case of it. I went to my ob and he put me on a safe antibiotic and he said as long as I didn't get a temp greater than 99.5 he wasn't concerned for the babies. I wouldn't worry at all if I were you because you have no symptoms. If you get any symptoms call your OB and let him know.

It could just be what he ate didn't agree with him, doesn't mean it will work its way to you. I agree though, if it does call your doc but try not to stress about what might happen when it could be nothing.

I hope your DH is feeling better!

Hi, I recently got very sick from food poisoning and was put on iv liquids. Couldn't eat for two weeks. Luckily my babies are doing fine and seemed to grow at a regular pace after seeing them on ultrasound. I hope you don't get sick but even if you do, keep sipping liquids as much as possible and your dr should be notified to keep track of how you're doing with hydration. Good luck.
