    Hi!
My DD Freya does not take her feed as well as DD Trisha. While Trisha is feeding more now and is putting on weight (even though she is troubled by colic), Freya has not improved with her feeds and infact has become worse especially since last night. she just does not swallow. she wont breast feed and keeps crying and is not swallowing F/F either. And of course is really troubled.

Today my husband was out for some work (he is currently on leave), and Freya was crying so much and wont take her feed. seeing her like that i was almost in in tears. i feel like such a horrible mom. if i cant even feed my girl, how am i even capable of bringing them up!

planning to take her to a Ped tomorrow..

You're not a horrible mom! Just the fact that you're posting here means you love her, and you're worried about why she's not eating! I know a lot of the moms on TS talk about their babies having reflux and many of them cry during or after their feeds, so I think it's smart to call the ped tomorrow. My best friend's DS had reflux, and she said once they put him on medication, he was like a different baby.

Hang in there. I hope you find something that helps. I know how horrible it is to hear your baby cry and not be able to figure out what's wrong.

I agree with AmyD. You are a loving and caring mom. Unfortunately we do not receive an owner's manual for our children with all the answers when they start making wacky noises. Wouldn't that be nice!

My DD has always been a fussier eater and has eaten less than DS. She did have reflux when she was younger and Zantac seemed to help her. However, she still wasn't the best eater.

Good luck at the ped. tomorrow. I hope you get some answers!

I am glad you are taking her to the pedi. She could have an allergy to milk (even bf babies have trouble with it sometimes) or she has a type of reflux.

:hug99: Hang in there, sweetie, it will get better. Trust in your pedi. In the meantime, maybe you could try some pedi lyte to calm her since she is not eating anything. See if she would take it from a bottle. Also try a pacificer until tomorrow. :hug99:

    Poor baby. :cray:

i dont think its reflux because its not as if she is spitting it up later like Trisha but if you bottle feed her, she just keeps its in her mouth and spits it out instead of even trying to swallow..

even earlier when she was taking her feed, when i bottle fed her, she would suck so hard making 'puch puch' noises but when i checked to see how how much she has had, it would hardly be anything or nothing! initially i thought there was some problem with the teats but as the bottles are shared between the girls, i realised that its not the teats but Freya. But at least she was taking her feed then.. even if in small quantities.. :-(

I am glad you are taking her in tomorrow. Also, it could be reflux, even if there is not much, or any spitting up, it is known as "silent reflux". Kind of sounds like she is having trouble coordinating the sucking and swallowing?

Our girls went through this a few weeks ago! It was so scary and I couldn't figure out why they were rejecting bottles and I still don't know for sure. Both DDs have had reflux issues and neither of them spit up much at all...actually, it was rare for them to spit up. However, the formula did come up in their throats and it burned. They would squirm and cry and "fake suck." So, I suppose your DD could still have reflux...just a thought. I'm not sure if the "not eating" a few weeks ago was their reflux again...it could have been because they are now at the age where reflux supposedly peaks. But, whatever the problem was, it was SCARY and frustrating (I felt helpless). It's good to call your pedi because they can check throat and ears, which sometimes can cause eating problems.
