Poor Katie has awfully loose stools (6-8 a day) and they are horrible smelling. We started off with Neosure but she projectiled spit-up and we switched her to Isomil. It got better but now it's back and her stool has gotten a lot looser (less than toothpaste consistency).
Could the soy be causing it? Should I try switching her formula again to maybe alimentum or something else?
We do have a dr. appt monday and I'm going to ask him
    TIA

Aww, poor baby. I know she is young, but has it always been this way, or is this new? I guess what I am asking is, do you think it could be a virus, or you think it is formula related? If she has always had a problem, I would try a hypo-allergenic formula, like Nutramigen, or Alimentum. Sounds as if she might be sensitive to something in the formula? Definately call your ped on Monday, or this weekend if they are open. [IMG]

Newborns poop a lot - is this normal for her? Also, does she have a fever? If she does, it could be a virus or bacterial infection.

It doesn't sound like a milk allergy because she also had loose stools after the soy formula. You might want to try regular formula and log how she reacts for a few days.

I hope you get it figured out. I know this is hard - I went through something similar with spit up.

A significant portion of babies that are sensitive or allergic to milk are also sensitive/allergic to soy. At least that's what my Dr. told me. How long has she been on the soy? How long was she on Neosure before this happened? It does sound like a virus- the smelly, watery poop especially- but it could be the formula. Switching around too much can also cause digestive upset. I would talk to her Dr about all the options. She may need a hypoallergenic formula and she may not. We had issues with my breastmilk and regualr formula, but most of our issues were solved with soy. Mine also had reflux too, which they were on meds for starting at 4 wks until last month. I hope her Dr can help you get this figured out on Monday! Good luck, I know it's hard.

She's not running any fever and she acts fine. She was on breastmilk supplemented with Neosure for the first 3 weeks. Then we went to breastmilk and soy. When my milk dried up she went to total soy and that's when the "explosive poops" and the spit-up has gotten worse. It seems like the more she drinks they worse it gets.
I got a can of hypoallergenic formula tonight and am going to try that and see if it helps.
Thanks for the advice and I'll update Monday after talking with the Dr.
