Hi Gals, - my twins have had colds the past few days. No fevers, just running noses. They have been in pretty good spirits although they have been more tired. Tonight, they have been more fussy so I looked down their throats and noticed some small white bumps on the sides. Just a few. We decided to lay them down and call the dr. My dr. wasn't on call tonight so I didn't pursue calling the other dr. on call yet. However, in the meantime, both boys fell quickly to sleep. What would you do? Is this possibly Hand, foot, mouth? Strep? (Again, there has been no fever at all) hmmm I don't want to wake them to take them to like an insta care because they are now sleeping peacefully. Any ideas??? Thanks, Mary

I believe the little white bumps mean strep throat. I hope they feel better soon!

I also had white bumps with tonsilitis. I think they're a general symptom of infection in the throat. Hope they're feeling better soon!

Well I don't know what it is but I have the same thing right now. My throat hurts off and on and I have white bumps on my tonsils. I feel fine otherwise. I had some antibotics from the past that I never used so I started on those on Thurs, but my throat still hurts. No fever either. Weird. I would take them to the Dr tomorrow. Good luck and let me know what you find out then i don't have to go to the DR. ;)

I had a sore throat last week. In fact, I even gargled hot salt water (which by the way really helps soothe your throat). I never looked in my throat so I don't know if I had those bumps or not. Meanwhile, I'm better now. Knowing I had a sore throat that has healed has made me feel less urgent for the boys. Today they seem even better than yesterday. I guess I will just wing it and see how tomorrow goes. I was surprised to see the bumps last night and had no idea what that could be. I tried to look today but they were much better at dodging my attempts so I didn't pursue it. My throat like yours, also hurt on and off. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks to you all for your replies. It's so nice to be able to talk to others when I'm feeling a little unsure. I appreciate you.

I think white is also indicates strep. If they aren't feeling better today call pedi. A round of amoxicillan and it should knock it out if it's strep and they can do a culture to make sure that's what it is.

I'm really not trying to lecture!!! But please don't take leftover antibiotics. Certain infections require certain antibiotics. Like strep is treated with penicillins. So if you have strep and you took something that wasn't in the penicillin family then it probably didn't do anything to alleviate the problem. This just causes superbugs or drug resistant infections.

In any case I hope you're feeling better...
