I just found that one of buy boys who was sleeping in our bed fell off to the floor. Thanks God a thousand time he seems OK he didn't even cry and he went back to sleep.

Did such fall happened with you. I wonder whether I should take him to the hospital for check up?

    Thanks for youe replies

I'd say get him checked by your family doctor or pediatrician, unless there's something immediate (sleeping too long, bruising on the head or neck).

I remember falling out of bed all the time as a kid (and I had a captain's bed)!

 I would probably take him to your Ped this morning just to get him checked out.

my doc told me as long as the bump on the head (IF there is one) is out and not sunk in then you're ok....as long as he doesn't seem to have a concusssion (sleeping too long, vomiting etc...) he's probably ok and just a deep sleeper! My DS fell of the couch several times as an infant (onto a hardwood floor no less) and off the bed once and he was always ok...

for piece of mind you could call the pedi but please don't be upset if they ask you a bunch of questions to assess the situation and just give you signs of what to look for rather than have you bring him in....

That hasn't happened to me, but it happened to a good friend of mine. She rushed her baby to the ER. The ER nurse offered her (the mom) a sedative. She was the one who was hurt, the baby was fine!

I would say to be on the safe side, call your pedi and see what they say, chances are she is just fine. DH and I had stayed in a hotel last year for SIL's wedding and we had the kids with us. I put DD on the hotel bed for a moment and turned around to get a diaper and that quick, she rolled off the bed. I think I was more traumatized then she was! to you and your little one!

This happened to one of mine. She was older though and crawled and dove off the bed. She was fine. I would call your pedi, just to be safe and make yourself feel better. I'm sure it's fine, though.

I have 4 kids and each of them has taken a tumble or two off the bed/couch/just about any high place they shouldn't be crawling on. They are always fine.

It's the same reason drunk drivers always survive car wrecks, they don't tense up. Babies are the same way. The human body is made to withstand tremendous blows. It is when we tense up or try to prevent falls that the majority of the damage is done. Babies just don't have that ability yet. It's a good thing too.

If it makes you feel better, call the pedi but they will most likely just tell you to keep an eye on them for signs that there is something wrong. (Unless you notice odd behavior from your baby, then call right away) I would definitely NOT take them to the ER though. There just isn't a reason for it and you could be using up the space/time for someone with a serious condition.

I wouldn't worry. If this is your first fall, brace yourself... There is bound to be more... *hug*

DH fell asleep with Jack on his shoulder during the early days of no sleep. He dropped him off our (very high) bed. Poor thing cried harder than I ever heard him cry before, but he calmed down way before I did!

I'd call the ped to reassure yourself, but he's probably fine. Nate took a dive out of his crib a week ago too and he's okay.

Hm, this post is not making me sound like a very good parent..... ;) But even if you're the most careful person in the world, these things happen. Don't beat yourself up too much.

Yes, mine have fallen off the bed to the hardwood floor! They were always fine. If he seems okay, I would just keep an eye on him.

I'm sure he is fine, but I would put a call into the ped just to put your mind at ease.

Hi, I was asleep early one morning. My DH went to check on my daughter, who was crying. He came and handed her to me and she stopped crying. I dozed off (sleep deprivation!!). In a flash, my DD crawled across the bed and dove on the floor. We have carpet. I felt horrible, but she was just fine. So far, that's our only fall. They are both climbing a lot, so I'm sure there will be more to come. Beth

My little guy at about 4 weeks fell head first down off of our couch onto the hard carpeted floor. Watch for signs of concussion. A call into the ped. wouldn't hurt. It is often worse on the mommy. Just becareful about next time you put them up on something.

BTDT. Both of my boys have fallen off the couch, I'm embarrassed to say one did twice. I think I finally learned. They were both fine, I just checked on them while they napped.
