I was coming over a hill this morning on the way into work going about 50 mph (the speed limit) and had to slam on the breaks down to 30 mph b/c of a car in front of me. It was enough to make my water bottle fly out of the holder but not enough that it really made me worry till I started thinking about it once I got to work you know?

Do you think I need to be worried about the babies or placental abruption or anything like that?

I just had a peri appt yesterday and everything was good so I hate to freak out for no reason but I'm just curious what you all think and if I need to let me OB's office know...

    p.s. I'm 26 weeks

    Thanks so much,
    Erica

How hard did your seatbelt cut into your belly?

I would say if there's no pain, nor bleeding or cramping, that you would be okay. However, it's always best to check with your Doctor. That way any issues or complications can be ruled out...and you can go on about the rest of your pregnancy not worrying! :)

I don't think the seatbelt cut in very hard but it all happened in a second so to be honest I'm really not sure. Let's put it this way the seatbelt didn't hurt me.

If you are concerned, I would give a call in to your doctor. I was about 7 months along when I was driving into work and hit a deer. Now the babies woke up, they were very active, and a lot of things could have happened, but it all worked out. I had a doctor's appt. scheduled for that exact day. They switched me from a nurse practitioner to a doctor but he did nothing but just talk to me. So, if you are concerned, I would give a call in. I was lucky the impact was on the front side of the car vs the front in that my air bag did not go off. I am guessing when I say I bet everything is ok.

I would call the doctor just to reassure yourself. Can you feel the babies moving? Are you feeling any pain now? These are questions that they will probably ask you before determining whether you should come into the office.

Thanks everyone, I did call and they said that it's probably nothing to worry about but to keep my eye out for any cramping or bleeding and making sure that I feel the babies as much as I usually do.

She also said that if I'd feel more comfortable coming in and getting looked at then they'd be happy to so I think i'm going to give it an hour or two and then probably call back and be seen as I'd really rather have the piece of mind than spend the next week (till my next appt) worrying obsessively.

Thanks for all the opinions. I just wanted to me make sure that I wasn't worrying for nothing and being totally crazy but it sounds like while it's most likely nothing it COULD be an issue that I'd feel better getting checked out-
