Let me preface by saying I have two very stubborn boys. They will happily drink juice from the sippy cups but they still get 2 milk bottles. Well tonight I put milk in their sippies and they were pissed! Refused to drink it. What do I do?? I need a plan......

When we transitioned to bottles we used only milk in the sippy cups, so I only have a couple of ideas.
Maybe try putting a little chocolate syrup or strawberry syrup in it, to make it a little different.
The only other idea I have is to go cold turkey on the bottles. If you keep giving them the bottles with milk then they have no reason to try to the sippy with milk.
    GL!

I agree with Brigette, at this point, I would go cold turkey with the bottles and not go back to them, no matter how much the kids protest. Once they realize the sippy is their only option for milk, they will start drinking from it. My BF went cold turkey on milk bottles with her youngest DS a couple of months ago when he was 19 months old. He went through a week where he did not drink much and then he came around. I also think flavoring the milk a little will encourage them to drink from the sippy. Good luck!

This is what we did... cold turkey and a little ovaltine to sweeten it. It took a weekend, but by Monday they were drinking at least 16oz of milk a day.

:thanks: I am such a wuss! I am really nervous to go cold turkey. I think I will try flavoring it. I just hate battling them. I have turned into the kind of parent I never thought I would be (ya know the one who lets the kids run the show) I am off work this week so I think I may start the battle. Who am I kidding...how long can I put this off(lol??)

I'm having the same problem here, mine wont touch milk if it's in a sippy. I've even flavoured it. Haven't tried the cold turkey here because they aren't eating as well as I'd like yet. They will also only sip from the sippy's, so I don't think they like them. I've bought a bunch of different ones with and without straw and still nothing. Which ones are you guys using?

We use Munchkin straw cups, both the snap shut and the regular kind. They will also use the hard spout take-n-toss cups.

I was really nervous because Michael never really drank anything but an oz or two of juice out of cups (I started around 8 months). But, I guess he got thirsty enough! I've also heard that soft spouts are more bottle-like so that is often a good first cup for some LOs.

Mine use the born free cups. They have soft spouts....which are very similar to nipples.
