This morning, there were 4 prepared bottles in the fridge. My DH asked how old they were and if he should pour them out. I, quite confidently, said no, i washed all ten of those bottles yesterday afternoon so they should all be fine. So, I just did a feed with two of those prepared bottles, then went to wash up a batch of bottles. It turns out we have 12 of them NOT TEN! So, I really have NO IDEA how long the other two couldve been in there. I wouldn't think more than 48 hours because I always look in the fridge first when its feeding time.

Any way, one baby sucked down her entire bottle and the other (usually a big eater and my spitter upper too) only took about half of hers. Maybe she got a yucky one? Is she gonna be really sick if she did?

I think I'm done making prepared bottles ahead of time. I'm just too sleep deprived to keep up!

    Thanks for any advice!! Laura

Don't stop making your bottles ahead of time. Just have your DH run over to the nearest store and get you a dry erase marker so you can write the date and time when you make your bottles. Tape/tie or somehow temporarily attach it to the fridge so that you don't lose it, or have it wander off.

As far as will the baby be sick, perhaps. IF it was bad (you don't know that it was) she'll probably get a tummy ache and may throw up. If you really think it was too old, call your doctor for some assurances.

I think 10 or 12 bottles at their age would still only last you a day and a half at the most. I think everything is a-okay, I don't think they were too old. Get in the habit of only preparing enough for 24 hours, and then you will always be safe.

Your system will work itself out soon. I remember writing down ounces of formula/pees/poops in our log and having to cross out the date like 5 times to get it right. I just could not even come up with a number that made sense.

    Hang in there!

Since it was refridgerated, it should be alright. Now had it been sitting out for 48 hours, then I would worry!

I had a scare like that a couple of months ago. I stopped pre making my bottles. Instead I make up a pitcher of formula everyday. We usually go through the whole pitcher in a day. But it definitely doesn't last more than 48 hours. This was an easy way for me to know for sure the formula was good. I wish I would have thought about it before because it is so much easier than making up a bunch of bottles at a time. Like pp said if it was in the fridge I am sure she will be fine. HTH

I quit pre-making formula because by the time I got the bottles heated up and ready to serve, it was just as much work as just making them fresh.

I'm sure your baby will be fine. Like pp's said, it was in the fridge, on the counter would ba a different story. I save my left over formula and serve it in later meals and have never had an issue.

I always had 2 days worth of bottles, and would make them every other day. We used up everything before we made more, so no bottle was ever more than 48 hours old. Actually, we did bath one night and made bottles the next--that way we were able to keep up with when was bath night.
