    Hey everyone,
I am new to this board and was referred over to a twin mommy from The Nest.
I am 18 weeks pregnant with boy/girl twins. I went in for my weekly checkup today. They are checking me weekly b/c I have 2 cervices (yes 2!) and a higher chance of an incompetent cervix.
Well, the left cervix is fine. The right one is opening a bit at the top where the Baby A's head is. The doctor orderded bed rest, no work next week, told me what symptoms to watch out for and will have me back in 1 week to reevaluate.
I am so scared and sad. I don't want to lose my 2 little angels. Has anyone gone through anything similar or know of a similar story. Any info or support would be so greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Laura

    Congratulations and welcome to Twinstuff.

Unfortunately, I do not have any personal advice in regards to your cervix issues but I am wondering if your doc has mentioned the possibility of a cerclage (essentially a stitch to keep your cervix closed)?

Keep your chin up, do exactly what the doc recommends! I know it is going to seem like the week is going to take forever to go by but hopefully it will be uneventful! I know this is soo hard to do but try not to stress about it because stress is not good for you or the babies!

Congratulations on your twins! I'm sorry you're having a rough time already, though. I, too, wondered if your doctor mentioned doing a cerclage. You could always ask him/her about it. I don't have any advice really...just rest and stay hydrated. I hope and pray that everything will turn out fine for you and your babies. [IMG]

Good luck with the upcoming week! I don't have any personal experience to share with you...but we're all here to support you, and possibly keep you entertained while you're on bedrest next week! Keep us updated...

Thanks girls! I really appreciate the words of support!
He did say that on Fri. next week if the opening is any larger, they will do a cerclage. I just hope that will do the trick. 10 more weeks till the "magic" 28 weeks I hear about.
    Thanks again,
    Laura

Due June 1 with boy/girl twins.

OH, I just heard about this somewhere else and for the life of me I cannot remember where. Was it on CNN.com? Or was one of the nurses talking to me about it? Anyway, I think it was triplets, a set of twins in one uterus and a singleton in the other. Everyone turned out fine.
I'll try to find the story for you.

Welcome to TS Laura! My name is Laura too! [IMG] Anyway I had a cerclage placed for my twins due to Incompetent Cervix. Please press your doctor to do a cerclage.

The magical week for us was 29 weeks and that is when Ian's (Twin A) was bigger that the birth canal. I can tell you the only reason I maintained my pregnancy was due to the cerclage. I had mine placed around 13 weeks. It's relatively painless.

I don't have any info for you, but thought I'd add my good wishes and thoughts for everything to work out. Take good care of yourself, I think that's always the most important thing, and sometimes the hardest.

Congratulations and welcome to TS! [IMG] I also hope you can talk more and push for a cerclage. Most agree that a preventative cerclage is more effective than an emergency cerclage so I hope he won't wait to see more progress before taking that step. Here's wishing you a safe 20 wks or so!

Forgive me for my ignorance but does 2 cervixes mean 2 uteruses? Grey's Anatomy had an episode Nov 2/'06 of a woman with twins (one in each uterus). I think I also saw something just the other day on TLC where a women from the UK (maybe England or Scotland) had triplets (and I think 2 were in one uterus and 1 was in the other uterus). Very fascinating. I would imagine that you will be monitored very closely by your specialist. Best wishes to you.
