Hello to everyone! I was searching on the internet for a place to go for advise and answers to questions I may have about my twins and came apon this site and thought it was wonderful! My name is Tiffany I live in Southern IL. I am 24, engaged to my fiance since 04 and have 3 girls Keara who is 3 and Olivia and Abigail were born 6/20/08 (Identical Girls). I was diagnosed with PCOS in 06 after trying to conceive again this news was horrible. We decided to just keep trying, even though it was a huge heartache. In October of 07, I decided to get a pregnancy test, I was still 12 days before my period but I am a complete pee on a stick freak..who wouldnt be after trying for 2 years! I took the test and automatic POSITIVE! I was soo excited I cried, I screamed, I jumped for joy finally we would have our *2nd* child. My pregnancy was going good until the 8th week I started getting horrible headaches, that would last all day long, tylenol wouldnt take it away. I started having horrible morning sickness, and was exhausted most of the day. I decided to try a different doctor thinking he would know something different then the doctor I was seeing..and boy did he. At his office they gave me an ultrasound....and tada TWINS! Two little heads I cried how great of a gift god has given me!!! We found out they were girls at the end of Feburary, and began planning for our twin girls. My pregnancy got worse on me, I couldnt gain weight, no appetite, horrible swelling, hospitalization, but 32 weeks I was done, but then to find out I had Preclampsia. I went into preterm labor 3x and was stopped 3x. Finally at 36 weeks my doctor decided to take the girls C-section. I was scared but so excited to finally see my girls. Olivia was born first at 10:10 am, weight was 4lbs 14oz 18 inches long, and Abigail was 4lbs 15oz and 18 inches long...PERFECT babies, no NICU time, and were about to come straight home with me!! Life now is completely changes, sleepless nights! I couldnt be more happy to finally have my family we were hoping for... We will try for one more baby (hopefully Boy), but give it a few years. If anyone has any advise on how to set schedules with the girls, helpful hints on everyday things with twins I would be more than happy to listen, most of the time I am home alone with the girls and extra help from others advise would be greatly appreciated.

Schedules are impossible IMO at a month. Just keep doing what you are doing (whatever the babies want!) By 5-6 weeks, we started to see a better night stretch and good sleeping in between eating. By 8 weeks or so, we dropped to one feeding a night, and we dropped that around 3 to 3 1/2 months. That's not necessarily typical though, but just to give you an idea. All we did schedule-wise at 1 month was to eat/play/sleep with "play" being a few minutes in the bouncy or tummy time before they went to sleep again. We were shooting for a 3 hour schedule at that point, but ended up with 2 1/2 most of the time. Best of luck!!!!!!

:sign0016: to the First Year, Tiffany. Congrats on your girls. At one month all mine were doing was sleeping between feeds (granted they were 8 weeks early) but that is all I think you can expect at this point in terms of a schedule. Our schedule didnt take place until they were about 4 months old and the first consistent morning nap started to appear and by 6 months we were in a groove during the day, but the nights werent that great. Again, welcome!!

    Welcome, glad you found us!
As much as a I REALLY wanted a schedule in the beginning, we just didn't have one. We did follow a routine of sleep, eat, play, the amount of time for each really varied though. It wasn't until about 4mnths that a small amount of a schedule emerged. As ladies here reminded me in the beginning, you are in survival mode, do what it takes to get by, and try not to expect too much for at least a few months. Every week or so things got better, nothing happened over night for me but gradually things really did get better.

Welcome Tiffany and congratulations on your girlies!

Right now at the age they are at, it is hard to get them on a schedule. Our pediatrician had them on a 3 hour feeding schedule. Ours had their days and nights mixed up, so we were always downstairs with the curtains open during the day and did a quiet/dark/bedtime routine with them at night. Once they started to be awake longer, we would try a nap schedule which really did not gel until they hit 5-6 months.
