    Hi, there

I've been lurking for a few weeks now and just love this board. Everyone is so helpful and supportive!

I'm Sandie, 46, pregnant with boy/girl twins from IVF. This is our 5th attempt (2 horrible miscarriages) and we're at 24 weeks as of last Saturday. After some massive complications early on (DVT that wound up as a PE then followed by 6 weeks of bleeding) things have settled down and the babies are growing well.

One question: Did you get or have you gotten upper inner thigh cramps? If so, what did you do to help ease the pain and/or prevent them?

Welcome Sandie! Glad everything's going well now w/ this pregnancy! If you hit 24 wks this past Sat, then we share the same due date. :) I still have to pinch myself from time to time and tell myself that I really am pregnant again, esp. since my last pregnancy also ended in miscarriage.

Anyway, I don't have the cramps, but I've always heard that bananas are really good for leg cramps. Might be worth a try. I can tell you that I do prenatal yoga and that helps EVERYTHING tremendously. All of my muscles (and back, especially!!) seem to respond really well to it and I can tell if I don't do it for a few days.

Hope that helps at least a little and that others have some suggestions for you, too.

    Happy pregnancy!!

:welcome: to TS. I had really bad lower leg cramps and I found that drinking more water seemed to help. Or maybe that was just in my head LOL.

I hope you have a great remainder of your pregnancy. You will love all the support you get from the girls in the Expecting Forum. They are awesome. :good:

My friend is 6 months pregnant, and is having the same problem, and I just looked up some info for her. Here is what I found may help:
Try these tips for keeping leg cramps at bay:

    • Avoid standing or sitting with your legs crossed for long periods of time.

    • Stretch your calf muscles regularly during the day and several times before you go to bed.

    • Rotate your ankles and wiggle your toes when you sit, eat dinner, or watch TV.

    • Take a walk every day, unless your midwife or doctor has advised you not to exercise.

    • Avoid getting too tired. Lie down on your left side to improve circulation to and from your legs.

    • Stay hydrated during the day by drinking water regularly.

    • Try a warm bath before bed to relax your muscles.

    • There's some evidence that taking a magnesium supplement in addition to a prenatal vitamin may help some women. Check with your provider before taking any kind of supplement during pregnancy

Hope this helps. I would think a massage, or warm compress may help? Good luck!

    Hi there,
I'm 29 weeks preg with girl/boy twins. I get upper thigh leg craps, have for a while, and the doctors say it's probably just my siatic nerve. Plus I'm on bedrest so that doesn't help much, but I have excercises that I have to do in bed that mimic walking and they help a lot with circulation too. The doctors say it comes and goes because the babies move and sometimes they are on a nerve and sometimes they are not! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

I have been having pains up and down both of legs constantly for about 3 days now. They say that it's my siatic nerve!! It has been driving my crazy!! I can not sleep, walk, think straight . . . Today was actually a better day I think they are repositioning themselves. Good Luck!

Welcome! No idea about the thigh cramps. But I did want to let you know that I also had a DVT and PE during my twin pg too. At the time, I could find no one who had been through the same complications so I always like to reach out to other clotters to let them know they're not alone!

Congrats on the twins and making it this far!
