    Hi!

I'm excited to join this forum. I've been browsing around quite a bit today and it looks like you have a lot of very friendly helpful members! I found out 2 weeks ago during a routine ultrasound at my doctors office to determine gestational age found out that I'm pregnant with twins in the process. WOW! What a shocker. There are no twins on either side of our family. This was so unexpected. I was shocked, overwhelmed, and excited all at once. Some of the shock is finally wearing off and it's being replaced with lots of questions about what to expect with this pregnancy and uncertainties about how I'll care for two babies along with my two other children. I know God wouldn't give me more than I can handle, so I'm not stressing too much over this.

I'm currently 11w2d pregnant. So, hoping I don't have to worry too much longer about possibility of miscarriage. I'm dealing with LOTS of all-day-sickness. I don't keep much of anything down at this point. This isn't really any different than with my first two pregnancies, other than it is a bit milder. With my first two I threw up whether or not I had eaten anything (stomach bile... ick). This time around, I don't seem to throw up unless I eat or drink, which pretty much just makes me dread eating. I'm down about 9 pounds. The zofran doesn't seem to be helping this time around, so that's a bummer.

I look forward to getting to know many of you!

Thanks for the warm welcome! Unfortunately, I'm not too hopeful that the sickness will go away since it stuck around for my entire pregnancy with my first two. I guess it could be different, but I'm not holding my breath. It makes me really nervous this time around since I've already had low-birthweight babies and this time I have TWO to nourish. I just don't seem to be keeping anything down lately :(

Congrats on your babies!!! I have no twins on my side of the family and somehow we ended up with two sets! LOL! Both were absolute shocks!! You'll do great with twins and your other two. Once they get here you just kind of find a routine and go with it. When our first twins arrived our other 3 wer only 6, barely 3 and 18 months. Having twins is an absolutely amazing journey and I have loved watching them grow. Definitely read "When You'e Having Twins, Trips or Quads" by Dr Luke. Great info. I also loved the book "Having Twins" by Elizabeth Noble. Enjoy your pregnancy to the fullest and don't live in fear. I was blessed to have carried both sets to 40 weeks. It is possible!!

Thank you for the warm welcome and pep talk! I really need it these days. The extreme nausea and vomiting is really getting me down and making me EXHAUSTED. I homeschool my 6 year old and my 13 and 14 year old sisters along with running around after my 2 year old.... it just wears me out. I have already ordered the Dr. Luke book and am anxiously looking forward to its arrival. I'll have to look into the Elizabeth Noble book. I know, from what I've read online, that I'm doing terrible on Dr. Luke's recommendations. I currently drink a frozen coke from a nearby gas station and sometimes 2 a day and thats pretty much all I ingest besides my thyroid medicine. I had hyperemesis with my first two and this pregnancy isn't turning out any differently, other than the medications aren't working this time around. Praying that it lets up soon so I can start to eat SOMETHING!

We homeschool also. The absolute best thing that we did was planning ahead and schooling over this past summer. We worked ahead so that once babies arrived we were able to take off 3 entire months to ease the load of having 2 newborns. We usually do this when planning the arrival of our single babies but it proved invaluable this time. At about 38 wks none of us coudl really focus on school work anymore due to the excitement over soon to arrive babies and I was running a bit low on energy by that point. So, for the last 2 1/2 wks of the pregnancy we were able to take off and are still enjoying the newborn phase without worrying about keeping up a school schedule. We'll start back at it again after the first of the year. Definitely work ahead with them if you can. Hopefully you're sisters will become a huge help also with the care of babies and household stuff!

As for the nausea, I feel your pain!! With our 2nd set of twins I stayed overwhelmingly sick until 16 wks and couldn't keep anything down. I didn't gain any weight until about 14 wks and actually lost 10 in there. It was crazy! I only ate what sounded good...which ended up more often than not being cold cereal. Once I could eat I just made a point of packing in the protein at 120 grams a day and cut out all junk food. The 1st set came weighing 6'14 and 7'2. The 2nd set came weighing 7'7 and 7'5. When you can and the sickness subsides just focus on the protein!
