Hello! I'm Angela. I'm 23 years old with a son who is 3. DH and I had been trying to have another baby since last August. Finally, in March, we were successful. At 5 weeks, they confirmed 2 sacks. And @ 7 weeks, the found 2 babies with 2 wonderful heartbeats. The babies are in completely different sacks with (what she said) was different placentas for now. We are soooo excited. I'm terrified about this pregnancy though. I just wanna stay home and make sure the babies are safe.

My question is about round ligament pain. I woke up yesterday and by habit I turned to stretch or something and screamed. It felt like I had pulled a muscle hard but in my tummy. Ever since then, my tummy muscles have felt sore and its misery. Every time I move, I'm like 'ARGH!' I know Round ligament pain is normal, but is it usually severe? Thanks so much.

Also any advice for how to stay healthy during this rapid growth period would be greatly accepted. I am trying to eat a ton of protein and drink water. My doc has yet to give me a folic acid supplement that I think he needs to, but hopefully this week! THANKS!

  2. It sounds like you are doing a great job so far momma! Stay hydrated, eat healthy, and relax! There are going to be tons of aches and pains along the way and we are here for all the ones that Tylenol cant take care of. Congratulations on the twins!

    Hi,
I'm at 35 weeks now and I personally would not wait for your doctor to recommend a folic acid supplement. I've been taking a prenatal vitamin, iron supplement, 1000 extra mg of calcium and a folic acid supplement almost my entire pregnancy. Ask your doctor for specific milligrams of supplements you should be taking. Also, I saw a dietician around 6 weeks and she recommended 40% carbs, 40% protein diet. Read "Everything You Need to Know to Have a Healthy Twin Pregnancy" by Gila Leiter and you will see that carbs are also important and so is early weight gain.

    Congratulations!!

Remember everything is going to be doubled with twins! Symptoms start earlier and come on stronger. I had a lot of round ligament pain all the way to about 20 weeks and then I seemed to be pretty well stretched. As far as vitamins, just try and eat as healthy and as well balanced as you can. I didn't start taking my prenatals until 9 or 10 weeks. If you are worried about folic acid just eat a lot of green leafy veggies, I ate a lot of broccoli. You'll be fine until your doctor prescribes your vitamins, or just call the office and tell them you would like to start them as soon as possible. By the way :sign0016: and congratulations on your twins, you will love this site!

Welcome and congrats! Lotsof water, that's what I have found to be the most helpful -- days were I slack off I get more contractions, days where I drink more, I feel better and have less.

I've been reading Dr. Luke's book "When you are expectibg Twins, Triplets, or Quads" --but I do have to say that i had to put it away for awhile because it scared me -- I didn't gain any weight until after 16 weeks, and according to that book, I might as well be killing the kids not gaining weight - I've gained 40 pounds now and the kids are growing beautifully -- my last growth scan last week they were 4 pounds 9 oz and 4 pounds 15 oz. So, don't flip out if you can't meet the goals in the book, but I do think it is a good resource.

Welcome to TS! I remember feeling like if I made too quick of a move, I would pull a muscle, and I did a couple of times!

I have been worried as well about eating right and drinking enough. I checked out Dr. Lukes book mentioned by a pp from the library. I figured I would check it out before buying. It is pretty good with info. I also checked out The everything twins triplets and more book. Both have been pretty helpful. I have had some pretty strong aversions to meat and other "easy" protein sources so have had to get creative. I have been drinking alot of milk, eating cottage cheese and cheese. I do instant breakfasts in the morning with my toast or whatever and then often have one more throughout the day. I also shoot for 64 ounces of water/juice/flavored water throughout the day since that seemed to be what I read was expected with twins.

As for the round ligament pain....yes, yes and yes. I have had that since about 7weeks. which seemed way too early I thought but makes sense I suppose as your uterus is growing faster and larger. I just try to not get up too fast and when I do feel it I just stop whatever I am doing and wait until it subsides. I am right there with you on that one. Judging by some of the pics I have found of pregnant twin bellies I think we are in for even more aches and pains! :icon_biggrin:
