Been reading this site for a few weeks but never posted, so I thought it's about time I introduce myself!
We live in Dublin, Ireland (my husband is from Arkansas, and we will likely move back to the USA, to Colorado Springs, when the twins are a year old or so), and are expecting our 1st and 2nd, boy/ girl twins, after 3 years of ttcing and three rounds of fertility treatment.

I think most of the ladies here are from the USA? I know medical treatment and options tend to be somewhat different here in Europe (for example, they tend to do far less tests here, and OBGYNs/ PERIs do not have private offices, they all practise at maternity hospitals), so forgive me if ask strange questions :) I am currently seen bi-weekly by my chosen OBGYN, and also bi-weekly by the hospital's peri, where I get a detailed u/s as I am taking part in a twin research study (they are looking into birth weight differences and what could cause it).

I have been fortunate so far in that this pregnancy has been fairly easy- little morning sickness and twins are getting on good. I had a little bleed last week and was in hospital for 24 hours and got the steroid shots, but all seems well now. Had a check-up today and the twins are 2 pounds 14 ounces and 2 pounds 15 ounces, so a very good weight for their gestational age (I am 28 weeks 4 days). Currently, twin A (the boy, Wilbur Bruce) is head down and twin B (the girl, Robyn Audrey) is transverse, so it looks like I-ll be able to have a vaginal delivery- I am told once twin A is out, twin B might move to head-down or if not, they can try to move her, and if she ends up breech they can take her our manually. I was written off work after last week's scare, and am very lucky in that I have fully paid sick leave, and once the babies are born, 26 weeks fully paid maternity leave (which is the law here). I am also taking 16 weeks unpaid leave after the paid, a I am hoping to breastfeed.

That's all I can think of at the moment, feel free to ask if you have any questions :)

:hi: and welcome!! Yes, I the majority of people here are from the United Sates. Are you native to Ireland or just Americans living there? You did say 'back to the US' so I ask, what brought you to Ireland?! (I'm curious as a cat!)
Congrats on making it to 28 weeks with not too many problems! Feel free to visit the brestfeeding forum if you need any advice or support! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

I am from Ireland, but my husband is from the US. He came over here to get married to me (we met at a conference in the US), because I wasn't prepared to move at that time and because we always wanted kids and the maternity leave provisions here are better than in the USA. But he is very much an American and misses the States, so we are looking at moving/ moving back soon-ish.

Congratulations and :sign0016: to twinstuff!! As you can from my siggy i also have boy/girl twins and i can tell you it is great fun!! I live in Scotland and i have to agree that maternity pay is great over here! I actually think they have now changed it to 9 months paid leave which gets even better! I hope the rest of your pregnancy runs smoothly and if you have any questions dont be afraid to ask, its what we are here for! x

Congratulations on your twins! Your 3D photo has to be one of the best I've seen!
Right now my screen saver is a photo my friend took of some cliffs in Ireland -- every picture he took was so gorgeous. I would love to visit someday.
    Welcome to Twinstuff!

Congrats and Welcome!! Other countries are very lucky that they do have such great benefits for parents with maternity and paternity leave. I wish the states would learn that it is important for the families. Anyway, that being said, I am glad you joined. We are in Missouri so we are not far from your hubby's homestate. You will love Colorado by the way... just get ready for lots of snow in the winter!!! ;) Looking forward to posting with you.

Wow lots of Scotts on here! :)

Sara- thanks for the compliment on the photo. The u/s tech was pretty pleased with it too :) We didn't know whether we wanted to go for a private 3D u/s, as we are getting so many at the hospital, but it was worth it for this photo alone, which I also use in my LJ (=blg).

Missy- he went to college and then worked in Jonesborough, his family moved several times in his childhood though. I quite like Jonesborough, but I don't do well in the heat, hence we decided to move to Colorado when we move to the USA.

    Welcome :wavey:

Just to let you know I would live in Colorado if 95% of my husbands bus wasn’t based out here in So Cal… we have a small place in Steamboat Springs Co. and I always said if we win the lottery, were packing up and heading there… Steamboat in the summer… with all the wild flowers… gorgeous… and the skiing in the winter… okay now I’m sad, we didn’t get to go this year because of my m/s….

It's cool to hear from someone in Ireland and congratulations on your twins. It sounds like you've had quite a journey, and it's wonderful that your pregnancy is going well. Moving to Colorado Springs will be exciting; it's a beautiful place. Speaking of Colorado, I've heard that the Loveland Ski Area customer service is fantastic, which could be a fun spot to visit once you settle in. Best of luck with the remainder of your pregnancy and your future move!
