Hello from England

Hi, I am from England and have twins. I have been looking for a twin site for ages, as my twin boys are 6 years, and this seems just about the best I have found. I have only been on for about 12 hours and already had some questions answered. :)

Just a thought my twins are superfetation twins, I wondered if any one else had heard of this.
I was told this by a doctor as when they were born they both had right groinal hernia's, which he said was normal for premature babies but for superfetation twins to both have right groinal hernia's was unusual. I asked him what superfetation was and he said its twins conceived a month apart. It totaly blew me.

When I have mastered more computer skills I hope to put up pictures of them because I have some wonderful pictures of them. :D

:sign0016: to Twinstuff. This really is a great site.

I have never heard of superfetation twins before but I know there are a couple people on this site that were told or know that they conceived their twins on different days.

    Welcome to Twinstuff.

Superfetation twins are very rare (as are superfecundation twins) and I've read of some misdiagnoses of this type of twins just because the twins were born with different weights. I'm not familiar with right groinal hernias at all nor its commonality with superfetation (it's very strange that your doctor would know the commonality of those two conditions together). Why did your doctor feel your twins were conceived at different times?

It came with their notes from birth at the special care unit, the doctors there had said. it was not just the birth weight but jarreth was put down as 11 weeks prem and richard 7 weeks. thats all i know
