I am a mother of a beautiful 20 month old girl (Maddy) and found out in December that I am pregnant with twins! After lots of ultrasounds we have determined that my twins are identical girls sharing the same placenta. Right now I am in my 14th week and I am feeling better than I had been for the past few months, but still tired and still hungry...
When I first found out that I was having twins, I was in shock. Not only because I did not expect twins, but also because my doctors were not able to see any membrane separating the two babies for a while and I was scared at the thought of them not only sharing one placenta, but also one sac.
I am more relieved now to know that they are in separate sacs, but still nervous about the risks of TTTS. The specialist that I am seeing told me to try to drink two boosts or ensures a day to keep my protein levels high... Not sure if that works or not, but my thoughts are I really don't have control of it and have to be positive, but also be prepared for the worst. I want to be really really exciting for what is to come in the next 5 months, but it is hard. I'm sure everyone can relate.

Welcome to the site and congratulations on your twins. I think we all feel a little apprehensive iin the beginning and even along the way. I am not sure if there is a point in the pregnancy where you feel totally comfortable with the whole thing. There is always something to be nervous about real or not. The drinks definitely do help, I would follow that advice for sure. Good luck and so far so good. :D

Congratulations and welcome to the board. I am also still in the tired and hungry stage but I don't think that is going to change. I am also have identical twins in their own amnions but we are not sure of the placenta.. the tech said that they look to share a placenta (and from what I have read this is the most common situation in identical twins) I worry about the same things. My twins had a 2 day size difference at 11 weeks and I am anxious to see how they measure on monday.
