I was just crawling into bed. And over the baby monitor I hear "ring, ring..." I look over at the clock - 10:30pm. And yep, that's the phone ringing.

All I could think was that this better be good. Change that, someone better be dying. Because there isn't a single other acceptable reason to call someone who has not one, but two babies at 10:30pm. At night. After bedtime.

Sure enough it is work calling for my husband for some major problem in Asia, blah, blah, blah. And this is the part that baffles me. He is - ready for this - at work!! And has been there for hours. Not only that but he is answering his cell - his primary business phone. So why in the world are they calling our house at 10:30pm and who gave them the number? Because I am going to strangle whomever it was first thing Monday morning. And the real kicker... they take the time to ask how the babies are doing. You have to be kidding me...

Since having kids I feel like the phone is one of the most annoying things in the WORLD! I am ready to chuck mine out the door every day. How do people KNOW the worst times to call during the day???? (or night!!)

Yes! I feel your pain! The other night DH buddies that are single were drunk dialing him from a bar wanting him to come and join them and we ended up unplugging the phone! URGGG... they know we have two sleeping babies!

The only person that ever calls me is my BFF and i dont mind when she calls but she VERY rarely calls past 9pm..

My husband's job requires he be on 24 hour emergency service one week out of every month. The phone ringing all through the night is just business as usual at our house. Fortunately, with their bedroom door closed, the girls can't hear the phone ringing. But it is frustrating to be so dead tired and have to deal with the phone midnight or later. I don't know how many times I have repeated to the answering service that he is on a call and his cell number is....

A couple of times they have been just outright rude to me. They are the ones waking me up at home after midnight and they are angry because my husband didn't answer the phone because he's already on a job they just sent him to. But I have been living like this for over 20 years, you come to expect pretty much anything after a while.

Ditto! It always rings during naptime! I always tell people to call my cell and I'll call them back from the home phone!

yes that is annoying, but what makes it worse (at least for my me) is when its 8:00 a.m (yes my girls sleep in) and it's my in-laws. AAARRRGGG!

UGH I would have totally been annoyed. I have to admit a chuckled a little when you said he was at work but they were calling anyway but then I stopped when I read they asked about the babies....how rude!

Everyone in our family knows not to call after 8pm. Before the babies were born we went to bed at 8pm every night unless it was a holiday and we were out late or something. So we got people into that habit. Now no one really calls because they think we are so busy we cannot even answer our phone because we have two kids.

Did you tell them that they were little sleeping angels until this call!?!?! I hope that you said that calls on your home phone after bedtime are not appreciated.

What's truly crazy is that while my tone was not the most welcoming I more or less politely told them he wasn't home. Try his cell. Babies are fine. Goodnight.

I was seething, but but like just about everything else in my life that ingrained training to be polite just kicked in. What is ridiculous is that I think of all the cutting remarks, just never say them. I used to only think of what I should have said after the fact. But these days the thoughts are right on cue, I just bite my tongue and I can't for the life of me figure out why.

Oh I so hear you there. We disconnected our landline phone. We only have the service for the internet. I use my cell and when the kids are down the cell is on silence.
