ok i have a tv stand with glass doors on front of it. they keep opening the doors getting at the dvd player, the cable box, pulling the card out of cablebox, opening and closing the doors, daughter would lay down and bang her feet on glass. i keep telling them NO!!! even gave a smack on the hand they dont listen. i tried putting that clear duct tape on it looked horrible but kept them out of it. now my son just picks the tape off it. and he is quick on doing it lol. i am constantly telling them no and they dont listen. what should i do besides buying a different one. i cant afford to spend couple hundred dollars right now on a new one. :umm: :grr:

I think they make magnetic baby proof locks, you can do something like that. . .or we just gate off the TV with pieces of the superyard. It looks bad and the remote doesn't work well, but it keeps them from messing with the tv.

It will take a few times but each time one of them does it, take him/her to another room and sit them in a small chair alone - make them sit there for like a minute or 2. if they try to get up just put them back in the chair. eventually they will get the hint. Now all I have to say is "want to sit in the chair by yourself?" Both of mine hate that. I think they think a smack on the hand is either funny or worth it!

Do you have another piece of furniture you can put in front of the stand? We had our coffee table and then big floor pillows in front of our's for awhile. The more we said no the more enticing it was. Its very frustrating. Have your tried time outs for this since they can hurt themselves playing with it? That might be another option. GL and

That locking strap looks like a good idea. What we did with ours was lace 4 cabinet locks across the glass (we have two doors on each side of the glass) and that has kept the kids out.

I was going to suggest building a shelf and putting all the equipment up there, out of reach. That's what we did as soon as our twins started crawling. But, since your twins are nearly two, I think a timeout might work to teach them not to mess with it. The TO will be much more work on your part and it will probably drive you crazy, but it'd be a free. :p

When we go to my parents', they use twine & wrap it around their entertainment center :). That or a really, STRONG, thick rubber band. The boys haven't figured it out. They can slide the twine or rubber band up or down so that they can access the doors, but we put it smack dab in the middle for when my destructive duo are at play. Now that they know they can't get in, they leave it be!

We have magnetic locks that apply with adhesive and I think they might work great for your situation. They sell them at BRU. Not cheap, but cheaper than new furniture!

I didnt read other posts, but I have the same thing. One of the doors covered the cds and we took it off. The other door was big and has shelves so we were afraid of them getting in there. I put all of my breakable stuff in there (pictures and willow tree figures) closed the door and my husband put one screw where it opens on top and one on bottom sticking out enough that it holds the door closed. The good part is that my stuff is safe and they cant get in there, and the bad part is I can't open it to dust <_< . There is a layer of dust in there!! and that I will have holes. But its better then yelling at them allll day!
    good luck.
