It now kicks in every stinking night, around 5pm. Is it normal to just show up every evening like this? I get it before I've even eaten!

I'll be 26 weeks tomorrow and it was right around 22 or 23 weeks that it kicked in for me.. I've been eating tums, lots of tums. Today I asked my OB if there is anything different I can do, since it's been keeping me up at night. She told me to try Mylanta, and then Zantac. So over the next 2 weeks that's what I'm going to try, she said if it doesn't help then she will look into something stronger.

    Good luck!

The difference in heartburn and reflux is reflux you actually have acid in your throat/mouth, heartburn is just burning in your chest and maybe burping...

I had heartburn before and kept insisting it was reflux bc it was so bad, well it wasnt and now at 34 weeks I have reflux every night so bad that I wake up atleast 5 times a night with acid inside my mouth :( tmi I know
and its like i cant breathe for 20-30 seconds after, theres a huge difference. Its horrible!!

Another hint is, tums will help with heartburn but not reflux.

Pepsid really helped me. Plus, I realized that 1) I can't drink coffee, 2) I have to snack during the day to keep food in my stomach, and 3) I have to drink water. When I feel a little heartburn coming on, I eat a snack and drink a nice cold glass of water. Now that I've identified those 3 things, I haven't even needed the pepsid. Just some thoughts based on what worked for me. Good luck!

I've been having that problem, too. Zantac helps and not eating too much at one time does as well. I even got it from eating strawberries...

Peppermints and ice cream sometimes help as well. Not necessarily together. :)
