Heartbeat gone...

My wife had been having a little bleeding, as she has done on and off for the past 7 weeks, and decided to go into the ER this morning. At 6 weeks, we heard a heartbeat, a strong one....at about 6 1/2 weeks we heard 2 heartbeats, the second not near as strong as it "should" be. Well today, they didn't see a heart beat at all. They basically told us that we needed to go to our doctor first thing Monday morning for another ultrasound and HCG level. Her level today was 90,000, but basically this is just a baseline for us, because we haven't had an HCG in at least a week, probably 2 weeks now.

We are just dazed right now. We've read WAY too much, and can't believe this has happened (again) for us. We are clinging to any possible hope, that maybe the machine at the ER was older and simply couldn't detect the heartbeat, but I know we are probably fooling ourselves with that one. My wife said the tech flipped the machine to look for blood flow and said didn't see anything where the babies were. (I didn't get to go back because they said they didn't "allow" dad's to go back at the ER. They almost had a fight on their hands, but I thought it better since we were already on edge as it was.)

Anyone else had a "disappearing" heartbeat? Heard of equipment being too old to detect a heartbeat at roughly 7 1/2 weeks along? We're just hoping for anything at this point. We can't believe that this has happened for a 3rd time!

I am so sorry for you guys and my prayers and thoughts are with you! :hug: The first trimester is so delicate, especially with multiples and it is no less heart wrenching. It's so tough when you hear a strong heartbeat and then its gone so suddenly, believe me i know. I pray everything works out for you guys and you don't have to go through any more pain like this.

Thanks ladies. We're just so confused right now, don't understand things. Thanks again for the thoughts!

 

I'm sorry you are going through this. :hug: I will keep my you in my thoughts and prayers and hope you get good news tomorrow.

 

Sorry you're going through this but I'm hoping the u/s machine in the ER is just old and you'll get good news tomorrow. Good luck and please keep us posted!
