Heartbeat gone...Follow Up

Just wanted to post a message here to follow up to my previous post....

We saw the doctor today, and it was as we expected. The babies' heartbeats could not be found. Needless to say, we are hurting right now. This will be my wife's 3rd miscarriage, and this time she will have to go in for a D&C, which I don't think neither of us are looking forward to. She took medicine to "rid" her body of the tissue, etc., the 2nd time, and she said she just didn't feel she could go through that again.

We did learn/see that the babies would have been mo/di twins. Our OB said that she had talked to our RE on Friday and said they'd noticed some things, and had some concerns that either one or both of the babies did not seem to be developing properly, possibly some chromosomal abnormality and that her body recognized it and that is why the pregnancy ended. That being said, it's still not much comfort right now.

i am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO very soon to hear that you lost both babies. my twins are natural so i don't really know how hard the ups and downs of fertility treatments are BUT i do understand the want and desire to have children coupled with the inability to get pregnant.

i TRULY hope that you and your wife get through this tough time and do eventually have that family you so desperately desire!

Thanks for all the replies. We were hoping that the ultrasound was just a mistake too, like many of you said. We were so excited at the possibility of twins. I know many were like that's gonna be SOO hard....we didn't care. When you have wanted children as long as we have, and to have already lost 2, getting 2 this time was going to be so awesome! But for some reason, it wasn't meant to be. We should be going in tomorrow for a D&C, which I know my wife is not looking forward to. Just another step in our road, I suppose.
