Heart Rates?

Whenever I've had the babies' heartbeats checked, it's quite noticeable the difference in speed. I didn't think anything of it, but my doula commented on mostly having heard twins' heart rates be very similar. I would guess ID twins would have similar heart rates, but not as much with fraternals? I asked the doctor if that made it more likely that we have boy/girl twins (Baby A still hasn't cooperated with the u/s) and he just laughed. How about with your babies? Are their heart rates close, or quite distinct? (And how do they be sure they've picked up two separate heartbeats if they're a similar rate?)

So far they have both been in the same range. Last visit was yesterday and they were both in the mid 140's, and they are b/g.

Most of the time ours are within around a 10 point different, but once it was about 20 points.

You can read about my appointments here (they have BPM rates):

    hope that helps!

Most of the time my boys have been exactly the same or within 1-3 beats of each other. There was one u/s where A was sleeping and 129 and B was bouncing around like crazy and 141.

They have been the same, a few points different, and more. . . I'm monitored daily here at the hospital. I've been told my babies (mono/di boys) are maturing well as far as the NST results go. As the babies mature, their heartrate baselines should lower, but you should see increased reactiveness (dips and peaks) which shows their systems are reactive and able to handle some changes, etc. This is what I've been told by the nurses and docs here. Depending upon each babies' activity level and maturity, the rates will be different at times or the same. The important thing is that these baseline rates are within an expected normal range. . . which is different for varying stages of maturity.

So if they are not always the exact same or they are even 10 points different, I wouldn't panic as long as doc thinks they are each in a normal range for their gestational age.

Allow I don't know if my boys are identical (I think they are), their heartbeats have always been within 5 points of each other. Alot of times they are so close that when getting an NST the nurses are never sure if they have found two or just one.

Ours have always been about 10 beats apart, sometimes more. We believe they are fraternal, since they are in separate sacs and have separate placentas, but we'll have to wait and see once they are born. They can tell if they have separate heartbeats, if they aren't the same. If they are close, then they can't be sure by using the doplar. Somehow, my doctor has always been able to get their heartbeats, even at the beginning. I'm always shocked at how fast she is able to get them too. I wish the NSTs were that easy. They never seem to cooperate for those. Either we can't get their heartbeats for long or they don't move once we do. I dread getting them now. The last 2 were a nightmare. The nurse kept pushing and poking my belly. I was so sore when I left. I thought for sure she'd send me into labor.

Both were in the 140/150s most of the time (boy and a girl!).

Ours have always been between 10 beats of each other. I don't know if the type of twins matter, but we're having identical girls.

Ours have always been really close to each other. Like within a few beats.. in fact the one time they were different I kind of freaked out a bit.. it was done by a guy in training at the office and he got 150 and 139.. but at my next appointment my MW told me that he probably just didn't know how to find a 2nd hb and of course.. the hb's were within a few beats of each at that appointment.

We are also having identical girls..I do wonder if identicals would be closer together then fraternals.. or same sex closer then different sex.

My two usually varied, depending on movement.
