Alright- we have all heard the tale heart rates can determine baby gender. Anyone have any feelings on this. Today babies were 120 and 140, and I am so hoping for a girl. Can anyone tell me their babies heart rate was on the slower side and still a girl?

There is a old wives tale that you can tell the sex from the heart beats and it was correct for us but I can't remember what the dividing line is

I don't know what the dividing line is either, but I know that they say the faster rates are girls and it was right for us. :D

I don't know the guidelines either and was always told that basing the sex on the heartrate is not completely accurate but you never know.

I am expecting twin girls and their heartrates are about the 140s.

Last year I had a singleton girl and her heartrate was 140-150.

    Good luck!

I am having B/G twins and their heart rates are different most of the time. Hers is always about 10 beats faster than his... (except sometimes...)

The old wives tale is if it's above 140 it's a girl and below is a boy.

It's true for this boy, but not our twins - they were always higher

It's not true, all my kids would have been girls and as you can see 75% of them are male.

  8. Higher than 140bpm is supposed to be a girl and below 140bpm is supposed to be a boy according to the old wives tale.
In my case it worked for me with all three girls ~ coincidence? Heh heh

DS and 1 DD were almost always at 142, we didn't know the other DD's until about 28 weeks (due to the fact that we didn't know about her) but then hers was normally around 145-150.

My sister's dds were both in the 140s the whole pg. My boy/girl twins were always in the 150s... ds might have been a little bit slower than dd, but for the most part they hovered around the same rate. Supposedly the studies show that the gender prediction with hb is complete bunk.

Wasn't true for us...I had one in the 140's and one in the 130's all of the time...we had 2 girls!

My boys both started out higher, up until the 6th month one was always in the 150s and one in the 140s... we thought that maybe it was a boy and a girl, cuz they were so different...

So it wasn't true for us, but who knows??! :D

My b/g twins were always very similar, usually 140-lower 150's ...

My last u/s they told us about the old wives tale because they were jokingly saying according to that our boys are both girls with heartbeats at 144 & 148!!

My babies heart rates at 12 weeks were 156 and 132 (or something close to it). My OB said, "Oh - maybe a boy and a girl!"

At my 18 week appt with the peri, the heart rates were 142 & 144 and I found out I'm having 2 girls.

I don't remember with my singleton boy, but my twin boys have stayed at 150 to 155. They've only dipped down into the 140's once.

I have heard that the heart rate does not take effect until after birth girls are higher than boys!

The boys were always between 150-180 and at my last appt with this pregnany the heart rate was 159, and its a girl... so based on that, I wouldn't be able to tell.

My rates are the opposite. My boy has always had the higher heartrate. He is usually in the 150s and she is always in the 130s. it's been this way since 15wks.
