Okay so I am wondering what everyone's babies' heartrates are averaging and what sex they are. My doc thinks you can predict w/out ulrasound up to 90% of the time what a baby's sex is simply by the heart rate... Lower for boys Higher for girls. Well with RaeLynn her heartrate was always around 156-160. Alyssa and Ashley were always around 153 and 154. I had my appt. this week and the beats were 153 and 141. I am totally thinking, "yep one boy one girl in there" But I am still hoping for two boys (simply because imagine a little boy with six sisters including a twin... poor baby! LOL) Anyway anyone have any heart rates in the 150s or higher and they are boys?? I am thinking that with my history though that 153 indicates a girl... and I have never had a rate as low as 141 so I am def. thinking boy.

As always I feel like I have to add the disclaimer... WE WILL BE TOTALLY HAPPY WITH WHICHEVER SEX OF BABIES GOD DECIDED TO GIVE US!! LOL but we can still hope right??

I think that it is fun to try and see if the "oldwives tales" work. All I know is that with my son his was always in the 120's-130's and with my daughter she was usually in the 150's. I just went to the doc this past Friday and so far these babies are close but A was at 137 and they gave me a quess of a boy and B was at 145 and she guessed girl from the ultrasound! I hope they are right...it would be awesome!! I agree with you though, about the statement of you get what you get and I just want them to be healthy!! Good luck with getting a boy!

I know with DS his hr was always lower, usually about the 140s, sometimes 130s. With DD, it was always higher, sometimes even in the 160s. With these babies, their hrs have been as high as 170 and 180 and as low as the low 150s. We don't know their genders yet.

We're having mono di boys. Heartbeats have been in the 140's for both at each u/s.

I don't know the sexes of mine yet and I didn't know the correlation between heart rates and sexes but mine have both had 170s and 160s heartrates and i have had the biggest feeling that both are girls so maybe I'm right!?!

From what I understand heart rates have more to do with the activity level of the babes at the time they're measured than the sex. I am 27 weeks with two boys and their heart rates at ten weeks were 175 a piece and have ranged from 140s to 160s since. Also when my mom was preg with my sister she had a slow heartbeat and the only name they had picked out was Trevor! Hopefully they will be able to tell you at your 20 week ultrasound!

I think this is really interesting. I had never heard this before.. and I dont remember what my singletons heart rates were.. but with the twins I remember when I had to go for my NST and DD heart rate was always faster. 160s, and DS was usually 140s...that would be soo cool if it were really accurate to determine that way.

Well-if the wives tale is true-my boys prove it wrong! LOL! They were ALWAYS in the mid to upper 150's. ALWAYS. So-who knows how true the old wives tale really is!

    As for this pregnancy...

The h/r at the ob's office at 14 weeks was 156...And I want to say it was 155 at the 11 wk u/s...WHO KNOWS!

There was no rhyme or reason with the boys. I, like most of you, had so many appts where we heard the HBs. One minute they would be 140, then they would be 170. There was never a normal HB for either one.

With DD, her HB started around 160 and settled in around 146-148. The labor & delivery RN guessed that DD was a boy because of her rate.

I agree with this. I don't really subscribe to the heartbeat tale. I had lots of NST's toward the end of my preg and both babies always averaged the same. Around 140. Plenty of times they would come and adjust the machines thinking they had the same baby on both monitors. I have one of each. But I do enjoy hearing the stories of those that are predicted right.

Thanks for all the input ladies. I want to add... at the 10wk appt. both babies were at 175, I asked, "isnt that kinda high?" the u/s tech explained that early on they are high always. Then around 13-15 wks they settle into a regular rate for each baby. With the 1st set of twins and my singleton they usually were "settled into" a heartrate and never jumped around alot. Even with all those ultrasounds with the twins when they were flippin' an floppin' everywhere! LOL I will say from my own observation though that the u/s heartrates always are higher than the doppler heartrates. I see my OB about 15 min. after every u/s and he checks the rates in his office too with the doppler and then they always read lower... weird. Maybe the u/s is more accurate??

For me it was true although I cant remember their specific rates anymore, my older DD was much higher than the boys.

I don't remember their exact heart rates, but one of my babies was higher and the other lower at every check indicating b/g twins. They are both boys.

I'm having twin girls and their heart rates are always all over the place it seems.

At my 12 week u/s we asked the tech about the heart rate prediction and he said it holds more true toward the end of the pregnancy. So, it may be possible to predict later on, but it's not always accurate obviously.

As always I feel like I have to add the disclaimer... WE WILL BE TOTALLY HAPPY WITH WHICHEVER SEX OF BABIES GOD DECIDED TO GIVE US!! LOL but we can still hope right??

With that said......I hope there's at least one boy for you.

Congratulations on your 2nd twin pregnancy. :woohoo: :woohoo:

I had one high and one low---always....and girl fraternal twins.

I figure this holds true since 50/50 it is right. I do have to say my 'higher' rate baby is my more drama queen ( she also was bigger at birth). She is much more energetic than her sister- I'm guessing that started at conception.LOL.

This hasn't been true for me. I'm having two boys and their heartrates have been consistently high (above 160). They have always been within a few beats of one another though.

My ds's hr ran high mid 140's to low 150's.

My dd's hr ran high 140's to high 150's.

These babies, today, 156 and 157, I have one of each! :D

I totally kill the myth!

My Boy/Girl twins are always within a couple of beats of each other, so I don't believe the heart rate/gender connection. Another thing discrediting the theory, is that depending on where you read about it it will say: High heart rate = Girl, on another site it will say: High HR = Boy. I hope you get the gender you want though!!!

This heart rate thing is so interesting. My daughter is a little over 10 weeks and has had 3 ultrasounds: 7 weeks 128 & 132 heartrates; 9 weeks 175 for both; 10 weeks 174 & 175. We will just have to wait and see what God has in store for us! :winking:

I think that is a complete old wives tale! Heartrates early on in pregnanyc are always high, then later on it depends on the activity of the baby. I would depend on u/s only. Good luck on two healthy babies and I will be rooting for at least 1 boy!!!!
