Does anyone notice that their resting heart rate is higher while pregnant with twins? I am sure it is due to the 50% increase in blood volume, but man, sometimes my heart rate feels like it is just galloping away in my chest! Pre-pregnancy my resting heart rate was in the 70's, would fluctuate occasionally. Now it seems like after I eat or if I am overly tired or just exercised, my heart rate is in the high 90's!

Definately higher for me as well. I had a bout of the flu last week and had to get admitted to the hospital for dehydration and my gestational diabetes but when they admitted me, my resting heartrate was 125.

Doc said for this reason (of having a high heartrate with a twin pregnancy) I am not allowed to exercise as it will put too much strain on my heart.

Oh yes! I remember feeling my heart pounding like I just ran but all I was doing was laying there. :pardon: Fun times during pregnancy!

Definitely! I think we carry even more than the 50% blood volume w/ twins so that doesn't help!! There are many nights when I go to bed that I can feel/hear the woosh-woosh-woosh in my body. Not very helpful when you're already not sleeping well!

I definitely have been experiencing this. It freaks me out when I'm lying in bed at night and I can feel my heart racing. Pretty sure it's normal though.

Just last night I was laughing because I could hear my heartbeat in my ear. I was laying on my side and my ear was folded and I could hear my pulse from my earlobe!

Yes, I remember I could see my heart pulsating through my shirt. Fun times!! I could also feel it in my head when I laid down.

UGH I remember that so well ~
I called my OB on more than one occasion saying that I felt like I was having some sort of panic attack or a heart attack (I am a little dramatic sometimes  ...but I wasn't really panicking - it was just that my heart was racing! Totally normal....and totally crazy!

Oh yes! I have this too and it used to worry me until I read how common it is - especially with twins!

I'm glad to hear that this is normal....at least once a day, usually while I'm taking a nap, my heartrate will go up. It makes me nervous.

I could see my heart pumping if I just looked at my stomach. It was beating to the rhythm. I too could hear it in my ears when I was lying down.
