Heard of babylegs?

One of the women in my local twins group just told us about these:
BabyLegs. They're basically really nice, long legwarmers and work from babies to children. So they don't outgrow them every couple months. And they're good for when you want a free bottom, but don't want them to get too cold. If they have a leaking diaper, the tights aren't soiled. They keep little crawlers' knees safe. I just ordered a couple pair for each of my girlies. It was more than I'd ever spend on tights, but if they can wear them for years, it doesn't seem like a bad deal at all.

    Anyone else used these?

Mods, could you maybe link this to FY and 1-5? Think it would be good in both forums.

What a great idea! Especially for crawling...I've never heard of these! I LOVE the argyle ones [IMG]

I got 2 pairs as gifts. Pink dots for DD and green argyle for DS. They're very cute. I use them on DD when it's cold and she has a dress on. They have a little strip of rubber on the inside of the legs to keep them from falling down (kind of like how thigh-high stockings are, just not so tight) They stay on really well and DD loves wearing them (at least she doesn't protest!). Haven't tried them on DS yet.
Never thought of using them for crawling, but that's a great idea!

My girls each have 3 pairs & I love 'em. They are great for just hanging out - put on a onesy & babylegs. It's easy to change the girls b/c they're not wearing pants. They pill up a bit after washing, but are a pretty good invention IMO.
I got a BOGO pair in Dec- you might want to see if they are running a sale.

My friend who lives in NYC has her daughter in them. They are cute and easy to use. Looks like a girl thing to me, so obviously I won't be buying them!!! [IMG]

We have 10 pairs and love them. They're really big in the cloth diapering community and have recently started being featured in the parenting magazines. They're great because they fit so many different sizes. All of my pairs are in unisex colors so our newborn boy will be able to wear them as well as his 3.5 year old sisters.

They are adorable; what a good idea. Question for those who've tried them: Do you think it's possible to sew some up? Or would it be hard because of the rubber thing? I'd like to make them as opposed to spending a bunch of money....

Those are so adorable!! I'm wondering how tight they are at the top....my DD has pretty chunky thighs. Do they stretch, or would they be too tight?

Here are some instructions I found on my Mar'06 babycenter birth board. I don't have any sewing genes...but for those that do, it looks pretty simple.

I made some for my girls. THere's a big thread about it on thebabywearer.com on the DIY board. Basically I took a pair of socks, cut the feet off and added ribbing. They work great and cost about $1.50.

I'm excited for mine to come, but those homemade directions look great, too! Thanks for posting those!

There are 2 kinds, comfort cuff and wide cuff, get the comfort cuff. They are SUPER stretchy and cozy. I started with wide cuff for my girls and they were way too tight on their chunk thighs. Comfort cuff works perfect!

I looked at the website & couldn't find where you chose which cuff you want. So I called the company & they said they actually discontinued the wide cuff since it seemed to be too tight on a lot of babies. All they have now is the comfort cuff.

I sent a link to my Mom and she is going to make us some! They look awesome and Joy wears a lot of dresses. Here in Chicagoland, it's awfully cold!

Cool links! They look pretty easy to make. My sewing machine REALLY needs a tune-up! [IMG] The tension is way off. Now I want to run out and make these!

I couldn't find any socks at Walmart that would work. Everything in the Women's dept. was either simple trouser socks, short socks, or athletic socks. I'll have to try another one, or another store.

I found some at Walmart, but I really had to look. They were on the wall where the trouser socks were, but way at the bottom, almost touching the floor. They had quite a few different colors and patterns. They are nice and thick. They were $2.97 here in Chicagoland.
