Does anyone have a good remedy for headaches? I miss my excedrine migraine! I'm 8w4d and just started to get them daily. They aren't as intense or as bad as migraines but they do start at the base of my head and behind my eyes. Tylenol just isn't cutting it, and I'm afraid I'm taking to much. Have you found anything else that helps?

I wish I could help. My doctor would only let me take Tylenol (which never did anything for headaches pre-pregnancy and still doesn't) Some of my headaches would last for 2-3 days with intermittent relief from Tylenol. I find I get them when I'm either a) dehydrated or b) haven't eaten for a while. Once it starts, I can't get it to go away for 2-3 days even with sleep, lots of food, drink, etc. Sorry that's no help, but I feel your pain. I try to stay ahead of them now since I have determined some triggers, but it doesn't always work.

Ugh...I know how you feel! I'm 14 weeks and still having horrible head aches, I guess because of the hormones. I dont know if this works for everyone but with my son I was pregnant while attending nursing school and one of my instructors told me that the only thing that would work for her when she was pregnant sense you cant take any meds besides tylenol was to take a dab of vapor rub and put it behind each ear and a dab on your third eye. It works for me also.

I had pretty bad headaches when I was pregnant. I'd been heavily reliant on Imitrex and missed it badly! One thing that helped, sort of, was mint oil. (From the pharmacy or natural foods store, not for the kind for cooking.) It didn't make the headache go away, but sort of eased the pain while the headache lasted. Of course I reeked to high heaven of mint, but since I mostly just lie on the couch when I have a migraine anyway, it didn't really bother anyone.

I feel your pain. I got headaches everyday until I was 16 weeks pregnant. And the Tylenol didn't cut it for me either. <_< Hang in there.

I also have had headaches throughout my pregnancy, moreso in the first trimester but still get the 2-3 day ones occasionally. I am not a huge believer in natural remedies, BUT the mint oil worked miracles for me! I bought the Aveda blue mint oil which is in a glass tube with a roll ball so you don't have to touch. I rubbed it on both temples, forehead and I actually rubbed it in the inside of my nostrils. Then I laid down in bed with a a heating pad under my neck and just relaxed. In order to get some sleep, I took Dramamine, which my OB recommends over Tylenol PM. Once in awhile, the bad pounding ones just didn't go away except with time but the number of them was greatly reduced.

Like the post above, I found if I didn't eat at regular intervals, that was when I would get the pounding headaches.

I had terrible pregnancy migraines with my dd, debilitating to the point where I couldn't function to take care of my son. I got fioricet from my dr and took it every 4 hours until it got the pain under control. Once it was under control I was able to take one pill a day to keep the headaches away, I did that until nearly the end of that pregnancy.

I had those bad headaches at the beginning of my twin pregnancy. Mine usually got better when I drank more water. Dehydration made mine really bad! Good luck!

I just started getting them this last week. With my last pregnancy I noticed that if I ate cheese I would get a horrible one. Not the case this time. But you could try watching what you eat to see if something specific triggers it. I asked my dr. at my appt. today and she said to up the water and try to get more/better sleep. I wake up off and on after 5 hours I can't go back to sleep and can't seem to fall asleep for a nap during the day. Hope someone finds a cure and posts it on here and soon. Tylenol has NEVER in my life touched any type of pain I have. And to top it off my son likes to play with my hair (his security blanket) and when he just touches it my head pounds so I tell him he can't right now mommy has a headache and he doesn't understand and just cries (which hurts it too).

Take/took Fiorcet too. I get hormonal headaches to start with so these LO's didn't help. My headaches subsided so good luck!

I had them really bad with my older DD. I would take the two of ES Tylenol and drink a diet coke. The caffeine would really help me. Sometimes I would just end up in the ER with a nasty migraine and I would have to get IV narcotics to help. Sorry you have to deal with them. They can be nasty.

I would talk to your doctor if they are really bad. I have bad back pain (not pregnancy related) and my OB prescribed me vicodin tablets which have worked wonders. Some medications are pretty safe in pregnancy.

I used mint oil and also eucalyptus oil. The mint oil I just dabbed on or held the bottle and sniffed it, the eucalyptus I put in a pot of boiling water and breathed it in. That helped with sinus congestion and headaches, so I did it a lot.

I had headaches too caused by:
low blood sugar (eat every 2-3 hours, even just a couple of crackers, an apple, something light)
    dehydration
Also during first trimester, had a bit of spotting and migraine at "that time of month".

Get lots of sleep and just think about the reward at the end!

I've suffered from migraines for most of my life and during pregnancy they get even worse. With my twin pregnancy they started at 5 weeks and they've been even worse and more often. I finally found some relief when I saw my neurologist and he told me to try magnesium oxide. I believe it has been the reason my migraines have been few and far between for the past few months. I'm sure it won't work for everyone, but it's been a lifesaver for me. I was taking it in combination with nephedipine, but since my bought with preterm labor last week the doctors told me to stop the nephedipine. I did have a migraine yesterday and I'm hoping it won't be repeated anytime soon.

Lots of luck to you and congratulations on your twin pregnancy!! :D :D

I, too, experience headaches that Tylenol can't touch. The only thing that provides some relief for me at the moment since I can't take Excedrin (my usual stand by) is a cup of hot, caffeinated tea. That usually knocks it down quite a bit for me and lets me get along with my day. Hope you find some relief for your headaches soon!

I've had migraines for many years. Since becoming pregnant I can no longer take preventative medicines or my migraine standby, amerge. The last pregancy I had them off and on for a couple of weeks and I didn't really have a lot of them. However.....This pregnancy is a whole different ballgame. I get migraines at least 3 times a week. Some last two days or more. my doctor prescribe tylenol with codeine or darvecet. It take the edge off the headaches but doesn't relieve them. I use an icepack and lie down. It seems if I'm not throwing up, I'm in bed with a migraine. I am 18 weeks today.

I am also getting daily horrible headaches. I don't take tylenol because it doesn't ever help so I would rather not take something just for the sake of taking it. I really wish it did help, When I get a really bad one I find an ice pack helps.
