Has anyone experienced their twins nodding/bobbing their heads up and down? My twins are just about 11 months old. My DD started it at about 7-8 months and we got very concerned. She did it for a while but then stopped. My DS started it at about 9 months and is still doing it. Now my DD has started up again. We have asked our ped and physical therapist. No one seems concerned because their are no other signs of anything wrong. They think it is either fatigue or they just like the repetitive movement. My DS does have a large head but my DD does not. They were 2 months premature so we wonder if it is related to that. It is hard seeing them constantly do it when they are in the exersaucer or on their bellies pushing up with their arms. We haven't seen or heard about any other babies doing this. It also seems impossible to find any research or info. about it anywhere. It doesn't seem to be a symptom of anything. They will stop nodding if we call their name or get their attention but then it will start again. They don't do it while lying on their back. We decided that if it is still going on at their 12 month well child visit then we are going to force the ped to refer us to some kind of specialist. Please tell us that someone else has experienced this and that it eventually just stopped????

I'm not really clear on exactly what they are doing so I'm not sure if it's the same type of thing or not, but a lot of the time when Cameron is sitting down he will rock back and forth and bob his head up and down. He does it quite frequently. It seems to me he just likes the motion. However, he only does it for like a minute or so.

I can't quite picture what you mean, either.....my two are still a tiny bit unsteady with head/trunk control, so when they sit in their Bumbos, they both sometimes wobble like bobblehead dolls, especially if they're tired. But, they're younger, and it's not something I'm really worried about.

Is this the sort of movement you're talking about? Do they control it -- can you tell if it's voluntary or involuntary?

Thanks for the comments! Let me clarify...
It's a voluntary head nodding. Like they are slowly saying a big "yes" with their heads. They do this continuously while in an upright position. They will also do this for much longer then a minute or two. If we don't interrupt them they will go on seemingly forever until they are distracted by something.

That definitely doesn't sound like what Cameron does. To be honest, if my boys did that I would be worried as well. I think I would definitely be talking to the pedi again. Sorry, I wasn't more help. Hopefully, someone on here will be able to ease your concerns.

I know what you're talking about. It falls into the same category as banging their heads on the wall or floor. It's actually a self soothing action if you can believe it! I would keep an eye on it, but try not get worried because it's not common but not a bad thing on it's own.

well, mine's not nodding, but he's shaking his head- and it freaks me out! Like you said, he'll do it until we call his name/distract him, then he'll stop, but its so weird. He'll even do it in his sleep which really bugs me. I have noticed that he does it most often when he's tired or excited in some way. He still does it, so I can't really say when he stopped yet, and I too asked the ped- and didn't get much of an answer. I've asked other moms, and all I've gotten is that he probably just likes the way it feels. :unknw: I hope they ALL stop soon- whatever it is! :hug99:
