DS is going through this horrible phase of banging his head when he gets upset or doesn't get what he wants. He will bang his head on the floor, tv, refrigerator, me , etc. Does anyone have any advice on how to get him to stop? I know it hurts him because he cries afterwards. HELP! [IMG]

Trish- he's getting ready for the "terrible two's", he's warming up! Olivia does it also, the baby, she cries 'cause it hurts. I say, did that hurt? She tries it on daddy once in a while too. He'll stop if you just don't make a big deal about it. Let me say Happy Birthday to them a little early!!!

Mine do it sometimes too. I think they are beginning to figure out that it hurts when they do it. It's not happening as often now.

Yeah my boys do this too...they don't know how to communicate and tell us what they want yet..so out of frustration because of the communication barrier they bang their heads.
Seems my boys always have a melt down on sunday mornings...they end up with a nice big bruise on their forhead just in time for church..lol
people at church probably think we smack them around! eeps!

My 18 month DS does it too. It does seem to help a bit to ignore it, if he is doing it somewhere like the carpet. Sometimes I just say, "Naughty boys go Night Night," and put him in bed for few minutes. It does happen more when he is tired/overtired.

both of mine do it for fun....they take turns making a game of it. jenner came home last with a bruise on his forehead from running in to a coffee table. he kept forgetting about the owie so would cry everytime he would headbang last night. they seem to do it more as a follow the leader sort of thing.

Blake does this too sometimes and I ignore him. That is really the only thing that gets him to stop.
