My 5 yo son told my DH the other night at his bedtime that he was homesick - which is weird because he has been at home. (He was doing so well previously while I've been hospitalized.) Then my oldest son told me today tearfully, "I miss you, Mom. When are you going to be home?"

I can't say this is getting easier right now.

Has anybody had any experience with their children getting this way while they've been bedresting? Any tips, advice, suggestions?

I was in hospital for 7 weeks before having the babies and my then 2 year old didn't cope well while I was away. At the time I thought she did but I realise now that she was so traumatized and just didn't vocalise it. Just reading your post has made me remember how difficult that whole time was and I so feel for you.

The good news for us was that once I was back at home things settled down with her really quickly. Now 10 months later I doubt she even remembers. A bit different with a 5 year old I know but they bounce back quickly.

As for any tips - really just remember that this is a short stage and you will be back at home and getting on with things soon. I hope someone can chime in with better ones sorry!

DD and I have had some heart to heart's because she is having anxiety attacks. She basically misses me.. So - we snuggle...every morning and every night...5 minutes each. A little stressful for me, but seems to be helping her...jikes! I hope she grows out of this!

Just breaks your heart doesn't it. :( When I was on hospital bedrest after Emilie was born, my oldest DD called me one day and was crying and said "I need you Mommy". That was the hardest thing for me to hear as I knew there was nothing I could do. It breaks my heart right now just thinking about it. Sorry,I am no help I know. Hang in there. :hug99:
