Ok, so my son has now mastered pulling up to stand and cries (aka screams) because he doesn't know how to get down. I can deal with it during the day...I just kinda help him down or try and let him cry a little longer hoping he'll figure it out (which I know he will...sooner or later), but at night/naps, that is my biggest problem...he's taking his sister if I let it go on too long....so I do go in once or twice and put him down again (cuz you know he'll get back up again) or do I just suck it up and totally let him cry himself into a tizzy and figure it out the hard way)..meanwhile, waking his sister? WWYD?

Funny thing is he doesn't stand in the pack and play (just his crib and it's on the lowest setting)...my guess is he can't reach the back and play or can't get the grip to get up in the PNP.

I think you just have to let him fuss until he gets down. After a few times, he will figure it out & the problem will be solved. I have a feeling if you keep going in, you are just prolonging the situation. It's frustrating, but hopefully it won't take him long to learn!

DS just figured it out the other week. He can get down after he fusses for a minute then realizes what to do. Its hard because at night he stands up and gets stuck and I leave him and let him fuss a few min because if I keep going in, hes going to keep it up

I agree...I think you are just going to have to let him figure it out on his own. If you keep going in to help him, he's going to begin to expect you to arrive. My kids never did this, but my nephew did. It's generally a short phase.

    Good luck!

Oh yes ... I remember this ... the twins did it (stand and cry) then learned how to chuck all their pacis out of the bed then they would cry b/c they wanted their paci. Frustrating ... I would let him fuss ... I am having the same issue right now with my little one (5 mo singleton) and rolling ... rolls and gets on her belly and cries ... good luck to us all =)

we had this issue just a few weeks ago. Kept going in and putting him down until he learned to sit back down. Took about a week to learn. We would work on showing him how to fall back on his bum during the day during playtime. he now stands up and cries just cause he doesnt want to go to sleep but eventually falls down and goes to bed. it was a week of hell though waiting for him to get tired enough to stop standing.

I would probably try to plan for a few nights of crappy sleep, and just let him fuss and figure out how to get down too. It does suck when he wakes up your dd, but if you plan ahead and do it when you and dh will both be home with no plans the next day, then you can be prepared for tired/grouchy babies! :D
