The other night I had Peyton in his jumpy bouncy toy and went around the corner, not even 3 or 4 feet away and he started screaming at the top of his lungs. I looked in there and his paci was stuck in his mouth sideways! Like the nipple part was in the inside of his cheek. I opened his mouth up a little bigger and got it out but it scared me to death! I checked his mouth and there aren't any boo boos or anything. Now that I've lost the mommy of the year award, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS watch where those paci's are!!!!

SCARY! It must be something about that age. Mine don't really take pacifiers but when I do decide to give it to them, they open their mouths as wide as they can and try to shove the whole Soothie in there! I'll definitely be keeping a closer watch on them now.

    Yikes - scary!

and, um, you have done NOTHING to lose Mommy of the Week award; that was total fluke. I mean, who expects a paci which has been DESIGNED for babies to be able to insert like that?

BREATHE - he's fine. (I know that kind of stuff is terrifyng and it's really challenging not to let your mind run down the What If path....)

Interesting that I just saw this on the recall page (www.cpsc.gov):

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Shims Bargain Inc., of Los Angeles, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 45,000 “BabyTown” Pacifiers. These pacifiers fail to meet federal safety standards for pacifiers. The pacifier shield is too small and could easily enter the mouth of an infant. Also, ventilation holes are too small and not placed to allow for the insertion of a tool to remove the pacifier when lodged in the mouth of a child. Finally, the package fails to display the required warning instructing consumers not to tie a pacifier around a child’s neck, which would present a strangulation hazard.

That had to be scary! I'm glad he is ok!

Dax did that as well. It was with one of those Soothie pacifiers and he got the whole thing in his mouth. He didn't say anything about it and I didn't even notice, it was my sister who saw it and took it out for him. Needless to say, that was the end of that pacifier.
