I have tried 3 different types of outlet covers thus far & none of them are working! Anthony is so fixated on them even if I scold him & turn him into another direction. He'll ALWAYS go back to it. I am so afraid of him getting hurt that I'm at a loss on what to do. Are there any covers that actually work and stay on so that little fingers can't rip them off?!

We replaced the outlet in their bedroom with something like this. In the rest of the house we have the normal plastic covers from Safety 1st. I have a hard time getting them off... must be that combo of little fingers and determination. Ug!

The only time my boys ever bothered with outlets was when we had covers. So, I got rid of them. As soon as that happened, they didn't bother with the outlets at all. Funny thing was, when we went somewhere that had covers, they made a beeline for them.

I just wanted to agree w/ Sharon. My mother said the same thing. She didnt use outlet covers when my brother and I were little b/c she took my brother to the DRs office and they had them, and he was drawn to them and was pulling them out. So, Ive never used them w/ my kids either and they could care less about outlets... unless there was something plugged in that they could get to, but it was easy to keep most outlets covered if we used them (i.e. entertaiment center or couch blocking outlet)

These are truly childproof, in my experience. You have to push a top & side button while also pulling out. I love them and can't say enough good things about them!!

We have had good luck with this same type (if not the same brand). They are such a pain I can barely get them out!

We have 3 different types, the ones above, the ones that actually replace your wall panel and have sliders to get to the outlets, and the kinds that go over things that are actually plugged in. My kids initially pulled and tested all of them relentlessly. They weren't able to get any of them off and have since given up.

We tried the going without covers approach, too. Turns out my kids were just as interested in the outlets as they were they covers. They kept trying to stick their fingers in them, so of course we kept pulling them away from them which probably just made them that much more irresistable, but I didn't know how to "ignore" something that could be dangerous. So for the plugs we rarely use we went with ones like the link. For the ones we get into all the time we went with the replacement covers that have the sliders to make it easy to plug temporary stuff in and take it out without forgetting to put the cover back on. And for things that are always plugged in - like lamps we went with the encased covers that cover the outets, power bricks, and have cord winders to minimize the amount of stuff they can pull on to pull it off on their heads.

This is what you want. Plus then you can actually plug stuff without worrying that they will pull it off then play with the outlet.

We had to get rid of our covers for the same reason! If you look in my pedi's office they dont have any there. She feels they are more of a chocking hazard then they are safety preventitive!

We went with these sliders too for the living areas and I love them.

i have one that tries to pry them off w/his teeth--grrr! however, we found that the really flat ones don't pry off that way;).

Mine find the outlets more enticing when stuff is plugged into them (an actual plug, air freshener, nightlights, etc). We do use the safety 1st outlet covers and for some reason that makes the outlets less interesting for our twosome.
