DS is an extremely picky eater and now he has started making himself vomit when trying a food he knows  he'll hate. How do I get him to stop this?

:grouphug: I wish I had an answer. The only way I could stop John was to avoid giving him foods I knew he hated or disliked. We did that for about 3 years because he would gag and throw up every time. He also did it with any kind of liquid medicine. Now at 6, he has learned how to take a pill so we can avoid that problem. He is also a less picky eater too.

I hope you can find an easy way to help him.

I think you have to ignore it. When Tyler was about 13-14 months he would gag himself with his finger while eating. The more of a stink I made over it, the more he did it. I posted on here about it and everyone said ignore it. I did and it stopped within 2 days.

I would think it would be best to try to ignore it as much as you can. Not make a fuss or give too much attention, maybe just clean it up & move on without much comment. :pardon: I've never dealt with that problem before, but that's what I would try first if it were me.

I cant believe how many children know how to do this!! Yesterday my childrens father and I went out to eat, and his roomates (we're not currently living together) cooked and had dinner at the house. When we got back the trash can was sitting in front of their 2 yr old sons seat at the table, and someone mentioned that he made himself throw up b/c he didnt want what they were having. I was like "What? He knows how to MAKE himself throw up?" I couldnt believe it. . . but now I see its common. Im sooo glad this isnt something I have had to deal with.

Sorry, I dont have any suggestions on how to get him to stop other than what pp have mentioned.
