He hates when I sing

[SIZE=12pt]Since I am a teacher, I know the importance of singing and saying nursery rhymes to the babies from early on. At first I was singing a lot. The twins favorites were "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "Twinkle, Twinkle". Now, every time I sing Michael SCREAMS at me. " MOMMY!! MOMMY!!" Big whine in his voice and tells me to STOP!

Now, I'm a pretty good singer. I have sang with the Sweet Adelines Barbershop Chorus, and quartets. I've been singing in church with a contemporary worship choir. I have been singing all my live in high school and college choruses. So I can't say that he must hate my singing because I'm bad....I'm NOT!

So why does he have this aversion to my singing? Since he doesn't like it so much, he has convinced Mikayla to scream when I sing too. What should I do? :huh:

I bet it's just one of those wonderful phases! Next time he does it, I would say "Well let's hear you sing it!" I truly cannot carry a tune in a bucket and I am constantly commanded to sing. Maybe two year olds like off-tune singing?

 

Pretty much every child I know does not like their parent singing TO them. Now the trick is just figuring out how to get them to sing WITH you!

 

OH MAN!!! FORGET ABOUT IT!!! If I am having fun or GOD FORBID enjoying singing the song, they HATE IT!!! It's one of the ways I torture them I dance and sing. The double whammy!!!

 

Oh yes, the evil torture trick of dancing AND singing to your kids....there is nothing more annoying to my duo I think!

Probably a phase and may have something to do with their age and wanting to have independence/control things. Have fun and enjoy doing this, I say! Laugh and tease them while you sing...happiness is contagious *hug*

 

My kids do the same with singing and dancing, they say "No mom, No stop" with their finger..lol I think it is just because they want to do it on their own not saying you sing bad kind of deal because they do it with everyone.

 

I don't know. I can't sing at all and my babies love it. :umm:
Maybe they are just laughing at me, but they pay attention.
