Okay well i just got out of the ER after spending most of the day. Ive been spotting off and on for a couple weeks now, and well today i went to the bathroom and blood just filled the toilet. Bright bright red. So naturally i call my new ob doc. He apologized that he was really really booked and told me that if it kept up to go straight to the ER. It didnt let up, so we went in. They done blood work, ivs, ultrasounds of course..... Well after the ultrasound, (which both babies are really great, measuring a week ahead, and heartbeats in the 160s.) the doctor came in and told me that all my blood work from my previous stays are saying that my HCG levels are continously dropping, matter of fact i could go take a pregnancy test and it would probably come back negative. Of course i freak out and pretty muchly get hysterical. They call my ob doctor and start talking about transfering me to evansville indiana where they are more in practice with really high risk pregnancies like my own. My ob comes in to look at me, (the er doc had already done pelvic exams so he couldnt) told me that he is almost positive that the bleeding is coming from the third spot the keep finding in my ultrasounds. (which neither info ive been told too much about and tonight is the first i hear about the hcg levels.) The er doc informed him that she done the pelvic exam, and confirmed that my cervix is very frail she could feel the tissues, and im dialated a fingertip. IM ONLY 12 WEEKS!!!! I cant be dialting right????
After being told all of that I GET SENT HOME, bc my ob doc is unable to confirm. Sent home, have to be back tomorrow for my 24 EKG, and then after its over friday, go see him and go from there.

Im terrified!! They say the ultrasound looks really good so not to worry to much. But im bleeding, hurting horribly, and the whole dialtion thing! Is it still possible im trying to miscarry???? Someone please tell me theybe been through this and everything was okay!!!!

I don't have any advice at all hon, but I did want to send you lots of hugs. I hope you get answers tomorrow and that everything is okay. I would think if the u/s looked good and the heartbeats were good, everything would be alright, but I honestly just don't know. I'm sorry.

Have you seen a peri? It sounds like you should possibly be getting a cerclage!

I thought that HCG levels stopped rising, or even dropped off, after a certain point of the pregnancy. But I am no medical professional so don't quote me on that one.

I am sending hugs. I would insist on seeing a peri ASAP. Lay flat (no sitting) and drink a ton of water.

I was wondering too, if you were seeing a peri? It really sounds like you should be since you were on bedrest so early with your first set of twins.

Sorry you are going through this. I agree with Susan, get in bed and lay down, and drink LOTS of water. Keep us posted. :hug99:

Wow, that is scary! My SIL went into labor with her 2nd child at 14 weeks. She was on bedrest and tons of meds to stop labor and she held out until full term. She now has a healthy 14 year old.

I am thinking of you and those precious babies, keep us posted!

I'm so sorry you are going through this!!!! I really think you need to find an new ob. First here is a link to hcg levels. It is normal for levels to drop after 11 weeks!!! They so should have told you this. As for not doing a second cervical exam... that was a great decision. Hopefully they will check you again on Fri. My gut tells me you and your babies are going to be fine as long as the cervix is ok. I wonder what the er doc meant when he said he could feel the tissues. If you are dialating, they should be able to do a cerclage and that should help the problem. If you have any more questions please feel free to PM me. Here's the link.... http://www.americanpregnancy.org/duringpre.../hcglevels.html

I do work in the medical field and really think your Doc should have told you about the levels dropping. The reason they drop is because the placenta starts to take over production of pregnancy hormones instead of the babies. (HCG is the baby hormone.) Most women will have a negative urine test after the placenta takes over anyways. If there was a problem with the babies and you aren't really 12 weeks, then they wouldn't have had such a good heartbeat and you wouldn't have measured ahead. So the babies are fine, it's your cervix I'm worried about. I hope this helps some.

Oh sweetie..HUGS..I dont have any expirience with this either, I do know that the drs in E-ville are great..My sis works at Deaconess Womens hospital...

I agree with the previous poster that you should be getting a cerclage to keep the dilating at bay...It doesnt sound like your dr has your best interest at heart, ugh Im soo sad for you...I wish pg could be easy and uneventful all the time..
