Hi. Here I am only 4.5 months along and already I am struggling with sleep. I get heartburn if I lie on my side, but if I lie on my back, the two boys cut off the blood supply to my brain, and I wake up nauseous, sweating and dizzy.

On top of that, I have a bad cold and I cannot breathe.

But the cold will be gone long before I find a comfortable way of sleeping. Any suggestions?

I have body pillows, etc. but they don't seem to do me much good since I roll all over the place.

My saving grace, tylenol pm! :D I don't use it all the time, only every few weeks to get a great night's sleep! It's perfectly safe and recommended by a lot of dr's for twin mommies!

I am the same problem. I went to the doctor last week and she prescribed me ambien and told me to take it only when I need it. Also, just to let you know Tylenol PM is just benadryl and tylenol so if your going to take tylenol PM I would just take a benadryl for the sake of your liver

My docs won't prescribe Ambien b/c I may not wake up w/ contractions or other labor symptoms. But, I AM a good bit further along than you and have had quite a few ptl scares. So they, at first, recommended Benadryl or Tylenol Simply sleep which I tried with some extra strength tylenol for the discomfort. That didn't work very well. The benadryl left me a bit jittery but not really sleepy. Then my doc prescribed Lortab 5-500 which helped a lot with discomfort but not much with sleep plus it's a narcotic so I quit taking that. Then my OB asked if I'd tried Unisom. I LOVE Unisom! 1 Unisom and 3 extra strength tylenol 30 min before bed and I've been sleeping GREAT!
Hope things work out for you!!!

i get heartburn from sleeping on my side too, i dont take sleeping pills though because at this stage i just get scared i might pee myself one night. i take one benadryl to get me drowsy, then a warm shower, and keep a bottle of tums close by for the heartburn. i take two right before i lay down. it helps like you wouldnt believe.

I was going to say unisom. I took it before I was prego and was surprised when my DR said I could still take it. He said they recommend it for woman who suffer from morning sickness. I try not to take it all the time, but love it every few days to get a great night's sleep!

I use a bed wedge; it's helped a LOT with heartburn. The one I have is about 8" tall at the top, so I can still sleep comfortably on my side. Tylenol PM did NOT work for me. The Benadryl in it dried out my respiratory passages so much that every breath felt like sandpaper in my nose and trachea, and I had to wake to sip water every 1/2 hour.

  11. I cant sleep a lot either but my doc told me I just have to deal with it. Thats my best advice to you too. I know it sucks believe me and sorry to say it doesn't get any better as you get further into your pregnancy. Good luck!
