I am having a real difficult time with my girls and their naps. Anymore, when I put them down 1 or both cries and it can go on and on. I don't know what to do, this is ridiculous! They are almost 8 mo. old! My DS would just go right down and still does and he did this from 6 mo. on. They fight me all the way. How long do you keep your 7-8 mo. olds up before putting them dosn? We have tried 2 hrs, 3 hrs, 2 1/2 hrs and nothing seems to work. What on earth is the deal? They had been doing good now what? I have resorted to letting them CIO and sometimes go in and flip them on to their back and paci them because they are always on their tummies crying!

    Any suggestions would be great!

    Thanks!

My girls go down for their first nap 2 hours after they wake up. Then they go down for their 2nd nap about 3 hours after they wake up from their 1st nap.

If my girls are tired and that's why they are crying then I just let them cry. One of my girls will cry until she falls asleep, but the other one will work herself up more and more with the crying. For the one who works herself up, the only way I get her to go to sleep when she gets like that is to go in and pick her up for a second and when I put her back down she will start to cry again but only for a minute.

If my girls are tired and I know they are tired then they have to be in their cribs - I don't have time to deal with 2 overtired fussy babies all afternoon. I have found that if I take my girls out after the first nap but before the 2nd nap they seem to be more tired and go down easier for the 2nd nap. Could you try that?

Sorry but I always just put mine down for naps wide awake and leave them there for 1,5hrs - sometimes they cry a bit, but most of the times now they just go to sleep. I always find that it is much worse if I lay them down, and they cry and then I go in and try to comfort them, that gets them more worked up - I think they just end up really mad that I am not letting them up to play.

My babies are up about 2hrs before their first nap, then about 2.5hrs before their second nap, and then often they are up between 2.5-3.5hrs before bedtime (depending on whether they take their 3rd nap or not, somedays they do and somedays they don't).

perhaps they are teething right now, that is why they are having more trouble sleeping?

Also wanted to mention that they will only sleep for 45-50 min when they had been sleeping 1 1/2 hours plus. I don't freakin' think so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine did that too when I put them down and they were not tired... So I extended their awake time by 30-45 minutes and it did wonders. You might have to give it a few days though, just one hard morning nap can really mess things up for the day. I think it took us 3 days to get back on track. Now they go to bed later though.
