I'm a 1st time parent expecting twins (translation = I have no clue who to buy, how much of it, or what I really will never use). I registered for this timer due to the great reviews, but I don't want anything i really don't need.

    Has anyone used this timer?
Is is THAT much better than pen & paper?
    If it's a requirement - should I get 1 or 2?
    Any other thoughts about it?

    Thanks!

I am one to jump all over fun products like that but I would take a pass on that one. But, I think paper/pencil worked out just fine. I am sure people here can share their charts they use.

I love gadgets, but like the previous poster, I'd skip this one. I can't imagine fumbling around with an electronic device at 3am when I could just grab a pen and write down what time I'd changed the babies, or how long they nursed. Besides, I'm a pretty visual person and it was really nice to be able to flip the page back to last week to see if they'd gained weight or started eating more. With a handheld device you won't get the ability to see all of your notes spread out before you in black and white.

On the whole, I found baby gadgets to about as useful as the average gadget. Wipes warmers are silly. Bottle warmers are somewhat useful (I actually liked ours). Diaper champs and genies are silly too. Regular trash cans work just fine. Of course, all that's just my opinion. I know a lot of other people liked many of these...

I was thinking of just getting a clip board with a small digital clock on it and using that with a pad of paper… that way I have a clock right there whenever recording anything and still have the ease of scribbling notes by hand.
