Has anyone received a "Fraternal" result?

I'm just wondering if anyone who has done the zygosity testing has received results that their twins were "Fraternal"?

I don't think I have read of someone who has done the test receiving a result other than "Identical".

    Just curious!

I'm glad you posted this, I was wondering the same thing. We just did the test, but haven't received the results yet, and I was hoping that we didn't waste the money.

    Well, these are my thoughts.

Generally speaking, if you have fraternal twins you know it. They look 100% different and even most strangers can tell them apart. The only people that ever ask if their twins are identical or not are generally the parents of identical twins. They almost always say "My DH and I can tell them apart but no one else can. Look at this picture and tell me what you think." Ummm, Identical. I think that the parents of fraternals rarely submit their twins for results, therefore most parents submitting their twins DNA are the parents of identical twins.

I agree with the above comment...but still...isn't it weird that you never hear of someone getting "fraternal" results. I REALLY thought mine were fraternal (they look different *enough*, two sacs, two placentas...even the perinatologist and OB said FRAT). But, we just got the results back yesterday and they are identical.

    I don't know!! :)

Very well said Jenny, couldn't of said it better. :) I may be mistaken but I remember a ladt here on TS that got a Fraternal result back. I don't remember who she used, but I do remember reading about it.

I did this test and got "Identical" back. (From ProActive Genetics) I read all the comments on the site and all of them said Identical so I was a little leary but I agree with what was said before if they look different you wouldn't so the test, no one likes to blow $90 or what ever it is now. I did ask the same question and got the same response.

I hope they are accurate. I just got the results back yesterday and mine are identical. Should I be worried now? Me and my dh can tell them apart, but everyone else that isn't around can not. We have the same hair, eyes, nose, & blood type. but we had a fused placenta. I think. Hope they were accurate paid lots of money for it. missy

I agree with Jenny. I don't know too many people with fraternals who are NOT sure about their zygosity.

I've contemplated testing but haven't done so. I was told fraternal when they were born because of the fused placentas. However, both are very similar and most people cannot tell them apart. Over time, some family members and their primary daycare worker can tell them apart.

However, i do agree with the reasoning...makes sense to me. I just went with fraternal because that's what I was told.

I tried posting this same question a while back, but don't think I explained it right. I wondered about all the identical results also, but Jenny's posting makes a ton of sense. We just had a playdate at our house and I actually got the girls mixed up myself. I'm definitely leaning towards identical for my girls...
