Our peds office contacted the insurance and we were approved for another seasons shots for RSV. With a copay of course. I didn't really think they would have them again this year. They are 19 months now. Has anyone done a second season? I wonder if it is as necessary as the first season. I haven't really gotten to talk to the ped about her thoughts. Obviously I want to do what will be best for them. Just curious if others have done a second season. Thanks

Our insurance wouldn't cover them unless the girls were receiving steroids or broncodialators and a shot would cost us about $2,000 each x 2 a month x 5-6 months- not happening here!!!

We are just receiving our first season of shots, but I wanted to say you are lucky that you were approved by insurance to receive them a second season. I asked our pedi. if mine would get them next winter since they wouldn't be 2 yet and her response was they will try to get them approved with our insurance, but didn't think they would approve them because my twins are too healthy. I was shocked since they were born 3 months early, but I will be trying to get them next season. So you are lucky you are approved again to get them, personally I would to be safe.

I requested my boys to get the shot the second season and so the peds. contacted the clinic who in turn contacted the ins comp who is covering the shots 100% this season too. Maybe the boys didnt need them this year but I was not taking any chances. They are healthy in everyway and I wanted to keep them that way. If our ins. didnt cover them that would be another story. I think the shots are 1500.00 a pop from what I have been told and theres no way we could afford that.

I got the second season done for my son because it is covered in full and he was born with a heart defect they may even cover him they said for a 3rd season due to his weight and the fact that he still gets very ill with the shots.

I was just thinking about contacting our pedi about the shots this week. My girls are sick with their first cold of the year. They are also going to a mother's day out program one day a week. They can't go today since they are sick. What insurance companies approve the 2nd round of shots? We have United Health Care. We've only been with them a couple of months.
