Hands in diaper all the time!

Arrrrrgh. DS is obsessed with his parts and has his hand in his diaper all the time. He doesn't care at all if we tell him to stop or do it in his room etc... sometimes he gets mad, sometimes he doesn't care at all and just starts again two minutes later. I don't even want to think about what happens at school!

How can I stop it, short of putting onesies on him all the time (the biggest ones he's close to outgrowing anyway)? Yesterday he didn't nap and I found him naked getting busy!

My one son was digging around in his diaper and pulling out his poop about a month ago. I have since purchased onsies and that has solved the problem. I had to order them online from Amazon because all the stores I called only go up to 24 months. I bought 4T; they are a little big but are doing the job.

Onesies definitely help when they are still in diapers, but I don't really have any other advice. I was hoping someone else would because I still struggle with this some days with Luke & he is over 4 now. :gah:

    Now I'm scared lol.

He always scratches his butt too :( I guess he's uncomfortable in diapers so he scratches until he bleeds (the spot above his butt). I don't really want to spend money for onesies as we'll potty train in a few months though... he still wears zipped up PJs backwards at night to avoid stripping.

The whole problem seems to come & go with Luke, he will be great for weeks & then we go through it all over again. But, with him, it isn't so much playing as it is pulling on his pants & readjusting things. I keep wondering if there is some kind of problem I am missing down there! :pardon:

Another thing I wanted to mention was trying diaper cream or aquaphor. I know before I got the onsies for my son, he was having a lot of loose BM. I think it was very uncomfortable and itchy and that is why he was reaching into his diaper.

Maybe your son has a yeast infection or something else that is making his want to dig in his diaper. :unknw:

It's a phase...that lasts their entire lifetime. Honestly, what man isn't fascinated with his parts? They'd all have their hands in their pants all day if society allowed it.

We tell ours (who are 7) that it's a private thing. If they want to play with themselves, they should do that in private. And yes, it's sometimes still an issue at 7.

With DD we are CONSTANTLY saying "get your hands out of your diaper". For me it is a gross out factor of her digging around her diaper, but it freaks DH out with the thought that she may be exploring herself. I have tried to tell him that is a normal part of growing up, but I think it freaks him out that his daughter is doing it instead of his son. I think this will be an on again of again issue for awhile until she gets tired of this phase and it passes.

Yeah it's totally the gross factor... doesn't bother him one bit if he pooped either. Ew.
