One of my girls seems to be right hand dominant and the other seems to be left handed. The twin who uses her right hand has excellent dexterity and uses her pincher grasp constantly. The other one uses her left and grab things with her whole fist and shoves them into her mouth. I'm not sure if that's because she is using her left hand or if she just needs to shove more food in her mouth at once because she thinks she is starving. I know I shouldn't compare my children, but its hard! Does anyone notice a difference in hand dominance and dexterity?

They won't really develop a noticeable preference until about age 2-3, right now they've probably just realized that "Hey, this hand will shovel more food into my mouth than the other hand!"

My dd prefers the pincer grasp, my ds shovels whole handfuls in. He's just a little piggy and she's just a daintier eater. Funnily enough, she's still over a lb heavier than he is though! ;)

Ditto pp. My boys are just now where I feel I can say they have a more dominant hand/preference. Jonas, my obvious lefty, used to prefer his his right. Lucas, my obvious neither hand...uses both for everything, has always used both for everything. Although when asked to hold something, he does pick up with his left. Both boys were good with their pincher grasp...baby girl, on the other hand (who seems to use both hands fairly equally at this point), shovels by the fistfuls so I don't think it's an issue of dexterity really at your babies' ages.

I always thought Luke was going to be left handed when he was a baby, he did everything with his left hand. But now, at 3, he definitely is right-handed. It could definitely still go either way with your two, it will be interesting to see how it works out!
