I will be taking the kids trick or treating alone since my dh will be gone and not able to come with us. I don't know what to do. Older ds is 8 and can walk to the doors with other kids while I wait on sidewalk out of way. The twins have costumes (I didn't buy) but I don't know whether to dress them up and just stroll them or actually let them trick or treat to. They are only 14 months and obviously we don't need the extra candy or should I just not bother to dress them up and stroll them and wait for older ds?

I am going to dress up my girls and take them trick or treating. Although they can't eat the candy yet, it is about the experience, IMO.

My husband won't be at home either. So I think I am just going to take my older DS trick or treating. I think the twins are still to young to understand, and they might get scared at some of the other kids' costumes. I'm not much of a Halloweener anyway! If I dress them up they will be hunters and I will put them in their camo attire. But I'm not even planning on doing that. I work all day and don't get home until 6:00, so it's kind of hard to do it all myself.

Last year my girls were 15 months for Halloween. We dressed them up and took them out in their wagon. Then we took them around the same block we walk the dog and trick or treated at the neighbors that we know well. They were all so happy to see the girls all dressed up.

We are doing the same thing again this year although they may walk we will see.

I would dress them up and stroll them, but not deal with getting them in & out of the stroller at every house to actually trick or treat.

We are actually skipping Halloween this year -- I still feel they're too young to understand. But since you are going anyway with your older DS, that's how I'd handle it. Might as well take advantage of the chance to dress them up!

Last year, my girls were 17 months. Our neighborhood had a "parade" so all the kids go out at once and the people in the neighborhood are outside handing out candy. We dressed our girls up and walked around with them in their wagon. They LOVED it. They were fascinated by all the other kids in costumes and got a few pieces of candy. (I think they only ate one each.) We are going to do the same thing this year. If I was in your situation, I would dress them up (if they like and will tolerate the costumes) and walk around with them in their stroller. If they want to go up to a door, maybe take them to one or two people that you know. They will probably enjoy the atmosphere and excitement of the other kids.

J&Z were 1 1/2 last year. A little older than yours... but we took the stroller with them in costume. They climbed out of the stroller a few times when they wanted to go get candy. They wanted to follow their big brother, especially once they realized he was getting candy! :clapping: :clapping: . I strolled them up to the door with Gregory sometimes... depending on the crowd and driveway (aka could I see Gregory or not, I went with stroller if I could not see him from where I was). The twins got candy when we all went up. After about 10 times of walking up on their own though, they really started pooping out and pretty much stayed in the stroller and started stripping their costumes off. Gregory was more than happy to help his brothers eat the candy I would not let them have. I am very picky about what they can have. So once I whiddled out the unacceptable chewy ones (choke hazards) there really was not an overabundance of candy.

first Halloween mine were 6 months and 2nd they were 18, I pushed them in the stroller in their costumes both times. This year I think we're going out of town to my grandmothers and just visiting relatives houses.

Our oldest loves trick or treat. DH will be gone, so I am having a friend come over to pass out candy while I take the twins in the wagon (14 mos) and walk with the oldest. IF the twins get really fussy, then we'll take them home, put them in bed, and then back out with DD1. And that way, if she gets tired of walking, all three can ride in the wagon if we need to... The twins are not getting any candy, just in case you were wondering. Just visiting the neighborhood.

If I were you I'd dress them up and stroll them, probably easiest for you while still keeping them involved. Since DH will be with me to help we'll just walk them (no walkers here yet, so we'll be holding them) to a few well-known neighbors just to say hi and show off our costumes.

We're going to dress them up and take them around our block in their wagon. Just for the experience.

Actually, DH is going to take them while I pass out candy at the house. I'm also going to take them to DH's work to eat lunch that day so his co-workers can see them dressed up, and maybe stop by MIL's too...depends on the girls' moods.

dress them up stroller them, but maybe let them go to a couple of houses at the end to do the trick or treat thing, they'll love it.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I will dress and stroll them I am sure they will enjoy the different scenery long enough to get down a couple streets.
